I’m excited because I just made the first purchase for my wedding! I bid on and won a set of apothecary jars on Ebay that will be awesome for our candy bar at the reception. We haven’t actually officially booked our venues yet (hoping to get that all nailed down in a week when we’re on spring break), but I’m excited about the first purchase!
Anyone else feel like they’re kind of putting the cart before the horse by working on details before you have the big stuff figured out?

I definitely did that..and ended up changing a great deal of details. We were engaged July 2009 so I was amped to get started. I ended up returning lots of things (Michael’s probably had me on a watch list!). Just save receipts, just in case 🙂
By The Way – for candy bars – I found some really cute cookie jars at walmart! the gallon size was only $6. If you end up needing more 🙂

I think that a first wedding purchase, whether impulsive or not, is exciting. I know that I had this nagging feeling that I had to go out and buy something/anything for the wedding, maybe it was my way of making it real in my head. I bought a cake stand.
Do you have pics of the jars?

@tksjewelry: I think you’re right, it does make it seem real!
@sorrycharlie: I’m trying to keep myself in check just for that reason – luckily, we’re both gung-ho about the candy bar, so I think that is one detail that will not change. Also, we’re getting married in December, so I feel like I need to jump on getting stuff done! Definitely not a long engagement here.
Here are the jars – I think they’ll look awesome with navy ribbons around them and pink candy inside

They are cute jars but I would becareful of making too many purchases of small detail/ cute idea items before the big picture things are set in stone or you might end up with clashing ideas, extra crap and/ or wasting money in the long run. It is exciting thought to make your first wedding purchase and good luck with the rest of the planning!
