So my Fiance and I have decided to do a 1st look for numerous reasons. I am not trying to tell anyone on here that they should or should not do it for any reason. It is just what we have decided is best for us. We would rather have that personal moment to ourself instead of in front of everyone. We have a TON of out of town (and out of country) guests and would like to be able to spend as much time with them as possible. We want to do it because as my Fiance put it, “I will probably cry when I see you so I would rather not cry in front of everyone”. So we have made up our minds that we will do it. I was on the phone with my mom today and out of nowhere, she goes, “well i think, as well as everyone that i’ve talked to, that a first look is an awful idea. It’s bad luck and your marriage will fail”. Thanks mom. I have told her our reasons for wanting to do it. She then says, “how many people who did a first look have been married for 30 or 50 years?”. Well mom, I dont know, it hasn’t been a popular thing to do for 30 or 50 years. I really wanted to yell back in her face and tell her that I am not taking any advice from her on marriage or if mine will succeed or fail when her marriage sucks because she cheats. I didn’t though…
Does anyone have any advice for convincing my mom that a 1st look will be fine and its what we want to do. This is our wedding and we will do things how we want.
