Just got my pictures back and super happy that I went with first look pictures. We got an hour of pictures alone before the bridal party arrived. Allowed us to get some really good shots. We had a 6pm wedding and it worked great for the schedule. Cocktail hour was only about 45 minutes since we were done with all the pictures. Allowed us to enjoy dinner and didn’t spend much on cocktail hou food (only had alcohol, bread, cheese, crackers and fruit). DH still almost cried when I walked down the aidle. Win, win for me.

I definitely DON’T want my FI to see me until I walk down the aisle! We are having the ceremony at 2 pm and reception starts at 6, so we have plenty of time for picutres in between.

No way do I want him to see me before the ceremony! But I do want someone to try and snap some pictures of his face while I walk down the aisle 😉

not sure how to answer. .

I’d love to.  FI refuses.  He won’t budge.  He’s like a giant rock.

I did a first look with both my dad and my DH.  I would never have chosen anything different.  It was the best choice I made.  I was a crying, emotional, nervous mess the whole day.  I would start trying over nothing because I was SOO emotional.  When I put my dress on at the venue I was jittery and going out of my mind, I kept saying “can someone PLEASE get my dad in here, I need to see them!” I actually wanted to see them both so badly.  So I had an incredibly emotional and special first look with both my dad and my husband.  originally, I wanted to do both outside, but guests started arriving way sooner than we thought.  We did the first looks in the vintage dressing room of the venue.  Here are my frirst look pics (taken from my photographer’s Pinterest page, just to give you an idea.  These are not the best ones of the bunch, just the easiest to access):

    Dad:

    With (then) future husband:

And as a testament to the fact that our first look did not at all take away from his reaction to seeing me approach him down the aisle, check out the look on his face (there were tears!!):

All in all, it was such an emotional experience and it eased my mind so much.  At that point in the day, I truly and honestly needed to see both of them.  The mounting anticipation was so overwhelming, and it was just such a relief to see him for a moment before becoming husband and wife.  I was able to fully be in the moment walking down the aisle, instead of a blubbery, nervous mess.  I was absolutely blissful on my way down the aisle…a far cry from the ball of nerves/red teary eyes from earlier in the day!

These aren’t our best first look pics, but our photog had a great angle and got the pure emotion on both my dad’s and my DH’s face.  They are some of my fave pics.  I will share in a recap at some point! I HIGHLY recommend them, esp if you’re very emotional and nervous!

I live the idea of seeing him before the ceremony, it would be so much easier time wise, but he doesn’t want a first look.

I hope people post pictures here, I love looking at first looks.

We did a first look so we could get some couples portraits out of the way. We loved it. It was a ton of fun!

One of my favorites from the first look (I had poked him to get his attention, which is very typical of me):

@inky_1:  OMG…my dad was the one I was most nervous about.  When he walked in (I’ll have to find the pic..haven’t gotten my copies from the photogs yet) he stopped in the door way, a few tears fell and was barely able to say “Honey, you look beautiful”.  I lost my damn mind.  I just fell apart.  But was hugged and he composed himself (I cannot handle him crying over big life-moments involving me…I had to leave the house when he teared up before I moved out for college) and I did the same and we had some laughs and we both relaxed so, so much.  We are SUPER emotional about each other, so I was more nervous about him being emotional on my wedding day than my husband!

I thought I would just be joyously happy to see my DH, and I was, but he walked in and essentially burst into tears and I did the same and it was more emotion than we would have been able to show and experience if we hadn’t seen each other.  He still let a few tears slip as I walked toward him, but at that point you couldn’t have paid me to cry…I was too busy beaming as hard as I could.  Best decision ever.

I’m doing first look photos because I don’t want to miss out on all the fun stuff at the reception 🙂 Plus, my grandparents and one of my cousins have health issues, so I want to get family photos taken before the ceremony so no one is pooped out or not feeling well!!

@MrsDrRose612:  I love the photos with your Dad – I’m totally going to do this as well. The pictures made me tear up (especially the one of DH with those tears of JOY!)
