Has anyone done this? Our ceremony begins at 6 & reception hall is open to us starting at 7 so we’re kind of crunched on time. It would really help out a lot to do all group pictures before hand then just do a couple of my FH & I afterwards. But my mother & MIL don’t want us to do it. They want to be able to see my FH’s reaction to seeing my AT the ceremony. I’ve told them they could be there for the first look [including my father, FIL & wedding party]. What does everyone else think?

I have just started thinking about this as well so I am glad you started this thread. I too always wanted his first time seeing me to be at the altar, but after browsing pinterest and the bee and seeing some first look photos I am thinking we should do them! It will still be specials and you are right the close family can still be there to see it. hmmmmmmm. My photographer got all giddy and excited when I asked about it and said she loves doing first look photos before the ceremony and that it calms and relaxes the bride and groom significantly

We did first look photos and it made so much sense. It meant we could do wedding party photos outside in the sunlight (despite a December evening wedding), and it meant that I was that much less antsy when I walked down the aisle. And it’s one of the best photos of the bridesmaids!

I’m so glad for all the positive feedback! I was really getting worried about how everything was going to work out [time wise] on my big day, but I think we’re going to go ahead and do this. My photographer was actually the one who brought it up, she was really excited too!
Thank you girls so much! (:

AAhhhh…i’m sort of having the same dilemma. My sister did first look bc she didn’t want to miss the cocktail hour, but I’m torn. One of my favorite parts of going to weddings is watching the groom as the bride first walks down the aisle, so I sort of want that for me as well as all of my guests. Hmm, i just don’t know! I was thinking of having all of my bridesmaids pics, pics of me and my family, my fiancee and his groomsmen, and him and his family before the ceremony. THat way we won’t have to take as many after the ceremony…has anyone done that?
Sorry i’m not very helpful!

We’re definitely doing a first look as well! You should youtube some first look videos…they are fabulous and so touching. I feel like its a lot more intimate between you and your FI when you first see eachother and reactions a lot more genuine because its just you two. aww soo romantic 🙂

@nicole.dellen: I have the same time line !
Our ceremony is also at 6 pm and our cocktail hour/reception to start at 7 pm.
I think it will be best for my bridal party to do all photography shots etc before the ceremony because I really want to enjoy the guests and I know with my extended family, I will have a lot of photos to be taken with them already/
