I am writing my first post to you all, and I am super excited! Now, I am not engaged, but Mr. LR (haha, he’d kill me if he knew I just did that) has given me a timeline (June-September–> eek!), we’ve talked about everything, gone shopping, etc. etc. My best friend is getting married, and this has caused my mother to start talking about my upcoming wedding. She really wants me to use her dress, and it was truly beautiful (think intricate ballgown with 10 foot train), especially for being an 80s style dress. All her fabrics and trimmings were imported, and it was just a beauiful dress. I would absolutely love to take her dress and make it into my own. One problem though– my mother was 5 foot 1(ish), a solid 80 lbs (when soaking wet), and small chest. As you have figured out by now, I am 5 foot 4, around 150 lbs (attempting to lose 15-20 lbs– wanna get back to high school weight! whoo!), and big honking D (close to DD) boobs. Will a seamstress even be able to use the fabric to make my perfect dress? I assume they might have to add some fabric to make it fit, but since I already own the bulk of the fabric, would this be a cheaper option? I am partial to Amalia Cararra and Eve of Milady ballgowns (my mother’s was Eve of Milady), but I want to combine a couple different dresses to make it my own, however, I don’t want it to cost an arm and a leg.
What do you ladies (male bees can chime in too, if they’d like) think?
