@clover32512 - COLOR TWIN! :) My first purchase was my dress - it wasn't even planned, I went to David's with a friend to look for HER dress and she made me try some on with her. I bought the second one I tried on.
My first was glass bottles for centerpieces from goodwill. I went with the mister and it before we were even engaged.
Since then it's been a lot of craft stuff. I haven't gotten any of the "big things" yet.
I believe that my first purchase was also our save the dates too!!!
Mine was my dress as well...and then the photographer. Maybe I should book the venue!
My first purcahsed was my dress, I bought 1 month after getting engaged. Best purchased ever!
My first purchase was the chargers that I ended up spray painting gray/silver.
Mine was the deposit on the ceremony. The actual first tangible things were small thank you frames that will be going in the welcome bags. It was an impulse buy, but I'd rather spread the spending.
@7SEVENJ9: Gotta love a color twin. These were the first colors I came up with, then changed it for about a month, and notified everyone last week that I have changed it back. So much better, especially since I dumped the butterfly theme which was what I wanted, for a more fun fishing theme which we both love. The guys will be wearing Black Jeans/Ivory Shirts and Camo vests. The vests my fmil will be making. Mike does not know about the new theme or the camo, gotta keep some surprises for him.
My dress I also found at Davids, my fsil and I went 5 days after he proposed, and it was the 2nd dress I tried on. I am having it made with a few changes by dressilyme.com I will order that in a couple of months.
Ours was jars for the candy bar--random sizes/shapes collected from several different thrift stores. Cheap and fun to shop for!
Mine was my replica dress that I had dress regret with (I didn't order it until 11 months after we got engaged).
If you don't count that, then our aisle runner and paint was the first official purchase!
Mine was my garter. It was too perfect to pass up! I found it at a halloween store. It was a Police Garter... which I totaly am going to be!
I think it was a big box of seashells and a hot glue gun. I'm not sure, though--it could have been a hat box I mean to use as a card box.
I bought the boxes for my DIY card box :)
Oh and I had my mom, who I was with, take a picture and send it to my fiance! lol
@SFreeman2187: Our first save the dates I did business card size. I don't like them as the print is too small. So today I ordered post card size. Exact same design only larger. I am so excited for them to get here, and I can send them out. am just trying to decide if I want to put them in envelopes to send them, or if I want to send them as post cards.
Our first wedding purchase was an apothecary jar for the candy station
A hanger with my new last name on it! and then the photographer!
My wedding band... I easily convinced my new FI to go look at wedding bands (i know this is normally one of the last things people buy but i could not wait!!!)
hm the only tangible wedding thing i've actually purchased is my wedding binder to keep things in. is that weird? i have all the vendors booked, though.
The cake topper. I dont know why I started with that, but it was very exciting!
My first purchase was my dress. The first dress I ever tried on was "the one". The next purchase was my veil, about 6 months later.
Mine was the Save the Dates from Vistaprint which were so cheap and cute!
LED tea lights for the lanterns that I am dead set on having. We saw them at costco for 14.99 for 24 and bought two. My mom got all sentimental.
2nd purchase: dress
3rd purchase: parasols for the flower girls
Mine was my dress then some mason jars some crepe paper to make flowers and some different vases and etc for the candy bar.
mine was reserving our reception space! It is pretty popular and books up fast, so we needed to reserve it ASAp lol
We booked the venue (August) and bought my wedding dress (October) even before the official engagement. I only did this bc we were 1000% sure the engagement was coming soon (November). My first purchase after the official engagement was the deposit on our church.
Dress!!! Then we changed the date and location but the dress still worked.
My first purchase was the dress. I didnt plan on finding a dress but when I saw it and tried it on, I knew I wasnt leaving that store without at least putting a deposit down on it. Then FI just bought my petticoat for me on MLK day. One of my cousins is purchasing my shoes and her sis is purchasing my veil. Their mother is purchasing and decorating my broom and once again FI is buying my tiara next month... Oh and we are also putting a deposit down on a venue next month as well!
Our first payment was the deposit on the ceremony venue. Our first purchase of a physical item was the portable popup gazebo used as the basis for our DIY chuppah (wedding canopy).

I'm such a nerd!
My first purchase was a wedding planning book.
Second was the venue.
I think ours was the down payment on our venue, lol. The first physical thing we bought was the STDs I think.
My first purchase was the down payment for the DJ. He's so good I had to lock him in first. I also picked my wedding date because it was the only Saturday in March/April he had avalible.
He better be as good as his 100+ reviews! LOL
@TxsAggieBride: My first purchase was a wedding planning book too!
Second purchase was our party bus that we booked at a wedding show - we just HAD to because the price was so good!
Third will definitely be the church followed by the venue (which we have already picked both out)
My Wedding Band was my first purchase as I bought it with my E-Ring. Then I bought my Dress :)
I wanted to get the venue first, but I'm in the military and so much is up in the air with deployments, so this weekend I bought and ordered my dress--just in case the wedding has to take place sooner rather than later!
Our first purchase was his ring (he actually picked out the one he wanted while we were shopping for my e-ring and I ordered it then)
Then the dress, then my band. Someday we will get around to invites... maybe
Our first purchase were vases for the centerpieces off Craig's List. All the summer 2011 brides were selling them cheap!

What was yours???
Mine was the save the dates...
I purchased some flowers from Dollar Tree to make up the centerpeices, as well as some small vases from Good Will that were 4/1.00 and I was able to get 8 of them in ivory. Today I ordered my banners from Vista Print that Mike's grandkids will carry. He does not know that the kids will be IN the wedding, so this is going to be cool. One banner says HERE COMES and the other says THE BRIDE, and our wedding date. The banner matches our save the date cards and our colors of Green/Chocolate/Ivory
