Well, the truth is by the time we get married next year I will be 38! This is my first and only marriage and am very excited about our wedding. At times, I do feel like I'm so much older than most first time brides. So, it's great to have a board with other brides to relate to. I ordered my gown last weekend and wanted to share a pic. I sometimes feel concerned that it's a bit "young" looking. Tell me what you think...

it's stunning! And for what it's worth, I'm 35, and I don't think it's too young looking at all. I'm sure you'll look beautiful in it.

Welcome!  I too was a first time bride at 38 (first, last and only wedding), and I did everything just the way we wanted it.  We didn't change anything just because I'm older, and we had a fabulous time (and then a honeymoon baby!).

So Cecilia is 8 weeks old and we're celebrating our 1 year anniversary this weekend.  Life couldn't be better!

Enjoy and I hope to see your vision come together :)

I'm a first time bride at 41. You need to feel beautiful. That is a gorgeous dress if it were too "young" you would have known it immediately (like flashing lights). It's only important that you love the dress and I am sure you are radiant in it.

Ohh, that is such a beautiful dress. No way it's too "young". I'm an encore bride at 35 though I felt like a first time bride, and I wore two very fancy dresses. Look at the dresses 30+, 40+ and 50+ actresses wear to the awards shows and how well they carry them! I'm sure you'll look stunning.

It's gorgeous!  I'm 34, and I have the same feeling sometimes, but that dress is stunning, and classic!

I think it's great at our age - we get to have the wedding we want, because we know what we want!

I am 38 also and getting married for the first (and only) time and I would totally wear that stunning dress.  It is the same style that I am looking for, so classic and classy with the aire of youth (cause we still are).

The gown really doesn't read too young to me, it says elegant woman.  It says you want to turn heads, not pretend your a princess.  Very beautiful and classy.  Nice choice!

I totally agree with everyone else's posts! I am turning 39 on Friday.  I will be very near 40 when we marry in March 2011 and although I was married before (courthouse).. this completely feels like the first time and is certainly my first WEDDING.

I am wearing whatever makes me feel gorgeous.  I don't think there is any such thing as a dress that is "too young"... just a dress that looks good on YOU or doesn't. I thought about my age in relation to all of this for about FIVE seconds and then I dismissed it.  I will not settle for anything less just because I lived life backwards (kid, then 1st marriage, then another kid, then divorce, then met FI, then bought house, now getting married!!)... I fully intend to allow myself every indulgence (within financial reason) that I would have given into were I still 25!!

Yay to us "older" brides living life as we see fit!

Thanks for all the very nice compliments. I am very excited about my gown and was having a moment of insecurity I guess. Nice to have the Bees snap me back to loving my dress and feeling totally confident about it... The dress is totally ME & I can't wait to wear it.

Yay for 30+ brides. Sometimes I forget about this board.

I love your gown. I think it's very sophisticated and not too young at all. I'm 32 and got a full A-line gown. It might be a little poofy for a 32yr old but I don't really care. :)

Beautiful dress, very elegant. I'm a 1st time bride at 39, and have been having the same underlying worries, especially with people saying to me "oh, we're just surprised you're actually having a dance" or "oh, wow, you're going to do the whole wedding thing with a reception and all".  ARGGGG YES DARN RIGHT!!! It's my first and only wedding and I can't wait!

Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful. I'll be in a diamond white full A-line with crinolin and veil, the whole shebang. yay! :)

I'm also a first tim bride at 37.  And you know what? I'm dang excited.  I had some guilt around being so excited for not being in my 20s.  But, heck, you only do this once (hopefully!).  Wear what you want to wear and love every minute of it!

Hmmmm, 38 is pretty young in my opinion.  Maybe because I'm approaching 31 and have many friends your age?  But I don't think your dress is inappropriate at all.

And at the end of the day?  Who cares?

Beautiful! I hate hearing brides that go with a dress that they don't *love* because its too young looking. My aunt was married at 36 and she went with a very modest dress, when my mom complimented her on her wedding day she just kind of shrugged and said, "its age appropriate" WTH?? Who wants to say that on their wedding day?! I say go for it.
