I just did a makeup trial on myself. I tried three different lip colors so help me choose between them! Also, if you see anything else I can improve on please let me know! Be kind, I don’t wear much makeup usually.. I thought I looked way over done but in the pictures it didnt seem like enough! haha. I know I am going to have to practice more on the eye makeup.. I learned that liquid eyeliner is hard at first. Also, are my eyebrows fine? I just pluck errant ones and have never gotten them done or tried to do the arched look.
@lovelynners: Yeah I was contemplating that. They look more full in real life but not so much in the pictures.. I also am still missing some fullness on my left eye because I had shingles in 2nd grade that ‘blistered’ on my left eyelid!
I love lip color #2. I agree with the PP that some fake eyelashes would really make your eyes pop – and heck, it’s your wedding, why not? 🙂 And quick note about the brows – they don’t look out of hand, but I do think a more shaped arch would really frame your eyes better, they’re such a pretty blue! So if you can treat yourself to a brow-shaping session with a professional, then you can just pluck any that grow out of that guideline yourself. Hope that helps!!
Not to be mean (or perhaps is a compliment) but I didn’t think your entire make up was done in the after pics. I agree with the other bees that you need more for your eyes that will really make the look 🙂
@QueenSP11: I totally get it! I think my eye shadow needs to be on heavier.. in person I thought it was so much but it must be because I am not used to that much makeup since in the pictures it barely looks like its there. I am definitely going to try some fake eyelashes next time too.
This is why I am starting messing with it now! Thanks for the help ladies!
First of all, great choice with lipstick #2! It compliments your skintone so well! As far as what you need to work on…I think you’re on the right track! I love that you’re going for a natural look…it looks more “bridal,” I think. But, I think you need a touch more concealer under your eyes, contour and highlight your eyes, more mascra and false eyelashes. I am a firm believer that all brides should wear false lashes on their wedding day to make the eyes pop. You don’t have to go drag-queen with crazy lashes. There are some great natural false lashes out there (like, Ardell 123, 110, 121) that will just give a little more length and thickness. I think your blush and lip color and great and you chose amazing colors for your skintone.
I’ve attached a video that I hope will help you with makeup. Sharon (on YouTube) has pale skin as well as so I think her tips would look great on you. She uses high end products, but you can find similar shades in drugstore price range. Also, I’ve added a video on how to apply false lashes, if you choose to wear them. (:
Number 2 has a really nice colour and shine to it ^^ I agree with the PPs, a little more on the eyes would tie the look together a little better. Maybe look up some eyeshadow/mascara tutorials online 🙂
As for the eyebrows, I think yours are fine right now ^^ But if you did want to shape them a little more definately get it done professionally the first time. Also an eyebrow pencil can add a nice bit of definition (just avoid going too dark or applying too liberally). There are probably eyebrow tutorials as well.
Anyway good luck! 8D I think you’re off you a great start <3
@swimcat14: Very pretty! I like option 2 and agree about the eyes needing more pop.
Do you have a local Makeup counter that you could go to get a little trial of makeup? Sometimes they do them free and if not they do them really cheap and then you can see what kinds of things they do.
Make sure all products you’re using are waterproof around the eyes.
I would recommend a primer and finisher for both your foundation and your eyeshadow to ensure it stays on all day/night.
I don’t wear any makeup either on a day to day basis and when my trial happened (I’m not DIYing this!) it did seem heavy at first just from all the layers, but it looked a million times better than I expected both in person and on photo. layers are key to keep your skin even and everything held in place 🙂
I too was once scared of having my eyebrows waxed. I have pretty thick, dark brows and always plucked them myself. I was terrifed of waxing after seeing someone I know get theirs done and they turned out with what I call “clown brows”…a very thin upside-down U shaped brow.
About a year ago I was really bad about letting mine grow out too much between tweezing and while getting a pedi, I decided to have them waxed. The girl did an amazing job. I still get them done every now and then, since I am horrible about keeping up with tweezing them.
The main thing is there is a difference between “arching” and “shaping”…I think if you do decide to do it, you should probably go with “shaping” since you like them pretty natural.
