I chantellamus, am going to attempt (key work 'attempt') to make my Thank you cards.

I am NOT the type of person who is creative, or inclined to doing my own projects and up to this point have paid people to do it all for me!

However I told my FI we needed to get some Thank you cards from the woman who did our invitations and he said "NO, your not!" uggh. He thinks she is way to expensive (which she is) we got 90 invites for $700....sigh. so I understand why he is saying no to getting her to do the thank you cards.

So I was on weddingbee....and saw some beautiful creations other girls have made for DIY projects, and have been on etsy and seen all those nice homemade things and I was like...."i can DO that"

So. plan of action is in place. I am going to TRY and do a sample of my thank you card (based on it being a mini version of my invitation, only with minor changes) and see what the FI things. If they're absolutly horrendous then maybe my FI will change his mind about getting someone to do it...but then again I think I am going to put 100% into this...I am pretty excited!

Wish me luck...lots and lots of luck. First time DIY'er...gulp! : wedding Icon Redface

sigh, here was my attempt. Its not bad, but not what I was going for. The thank you card is obviously on the left with my invitations which were done professionally on the right

    hope the pic works..

you open your picture, you hit the icon picture/paint, then hit icon above image, hit stretch/skew

then put in smaller numbers like 25% and 25%

I had to figure it out also

good luck try again, I love seeing other people's ideas

I think you did an excellent job of recreating the professional one and in the end people will love it and then (unfortunetaly) it will get thrown away =( I know it's the sad truth.... but honestly save money on doing the DIY ones..... I think they are fabulous and you did a fantastic job =D WELL DONE!!

I think they look great & I like your idea of matching them to the invitations. The only constructive criticism that I have would be the ribbon (I don't know if this is the excat ribbon you plan on using, or you just grabbed something around the house) but it appears that it has writing on it, and there is more writing showing on the left side vs. the right, which looks a little odd; so I would suggest just solid colored ribbon :)

thanks for the criticism, as for the ribbon, not thats not the ribbon I will be usuing. When I went and bought enough material to make my sample card last night I ended up cheaping out on some stuff incase I didn't like them, and loose my mojo for wanting to DIY the thank you cards. I bought the ribbon from a dollar store ha ha the writting on it actually says true love, and it was a cream ribbon and thats the only reason why I chose it. I won't be using that!

LoL i thought the one you were holding up was the invitation lady's and yours were the typed ones!

So, apparently I thought yours were awesome. I think as long as you use a matching ribbon it looks freakin' the same to me!

Use a paper cutter if you want it perfectly squared. Kinkos and Office Depot has one for 75 cents a cut. And you can put a whole ream in there! Small price to pay to avoid hand-cutting stuff. I used their services for all my stuff so it looks uber professional.

ok - so I ended up not really liking the first set of thank you cards I did. I thought they were pretty crappy actually.

After playing around with some different variations I finally came up with this one, and basically set up a sweat shop for myself in my kitchen to do them.

I got about 15 done, which his good....

I based them off what my invites look like (which is the one in the back of the picture that shows a bunch of the cards) and I found this heart stamp (that is on the sample card I pisted above) that I really liked so I wanted to add those on the cards as well so I placed them on the insides.

Phew...first DIY project...EVER! How do they look ladies? :) be gentle!

Wow they look fantastic. I also want to DIY our invites. The lady who did our invitations is great but she is a little pricey.

    Great job
