Don't take a lot of people with you. I got so many conflicting opinions that I decided to go back a week later with just my mom, his mom and my MOH. It was so much more fun and I fould my dream dress.

Wear comfy clothes that's easy to take on and off, a strapless bra and be mindful of your panties. I wore a thong and was a little uncomfortable a couple of times when salespeople would bust into a room and I was standing there with the arscheeks a blaring. And wear comby shoes too. You can always borrow a pair of heels at the salon. And do your hair and make up - I got tired of staring at my face and scrunchied hair on the first trip. The second trip, I could get a little better idea of how I would look on wedding day.

Just because it doesn't look good on the hanger doesn't mean it's not going to look fabulous on you. Give it a try - what have you got to lose.

One of the most important things is to tell the salespeople your budget first thing and refuse to try on dresses that's out of your budget. (I made that mistake and fell in love with a dress that could put me in the poor house and the dog house at the same time. Fortunately I found the dress on a second hand wedding dress site. It's used but was loved by the former bride so you can't tell it was worn before.)

Don't get discouraged - it's a very important decision and it can't be rushed.

i would also style your hair in the general way you are thinking for your big day- this way you will get a better idea of the whole picture. :)
