Ask the moms amongst your family and friends tons of questions.  I’m in the same boat as you (went to the doctors thinking I had a stomach flu, turns out I’m preggers with twins) and talking to those that are experienced really helped me feel more at ease.  Another thing that you will definitely want to do is budget.  I called my insurance company as soon as I found out so that I would know what was covered/not covered, my max out of pocket, etc, and knowing that I could afford the babies definitely put me in a more comfortable position.  While I think all the change could be overwhelming, there are a lot of happy things happening for you at this time.  Hopefully after the shock wears off you can really start enjoying this time.  Congrats!

ChristineMarie5711:  Well first congrats on both things! If it makes you feel any better. I got engaged on a Tuesday and found out we were pregnant that Friday, 5 weeks pregnant to be exact. Life happens and you just gotta roll with the punches. We got married at city hall on March 15th, we’re expecting our son in 5 days and our big wedding will be November 15th.

It is scary! When I found out I’ll be hoenst, I was a little upset because I wanted to be a bride before I was a mom but then I sat back and thought the amazing life growing inside of me. I couldn’t be happier!!

Good luck to you on everything. You’ll be fine!

ChristineMarie5711:  Congrats on your engagement and baby! I’m sure you’re shocked and overwhelmed – we got pregnant before we were planning to start trying, so I understand what you’re going through. Everything will work out for the best though! You’ve got 9 months to prepare! You’ll be surprised how natural motherhood will come to you. I didn’t think I was maternal at all and have surprised myself, my husband and pretty much my whole family with how much of a natural I am. Enjoy this very special time!

ChristineMarie5711:  I’m so happy to hear you say that because it truly is a blessing and I’m glad that you were able to get pregnant although it may not have been the “perfect” time for you.

Life is going to be a bit crazy but you’ll make it work and when it feels as if nothing is going to work out it will. Be as stress-free as you can for your baby.

Keep us all updated on your pregnancy and wedding.

Congrats on both occasions! As a FTM and not having any friends with children yet, I found the book ‘Baby Bargains’ incredibly helpful. It helps rate the different baby items so you can get the best quality for the best price. It is also great at letting you know what you REALLY need and what you don’t. My boys were born in Jan and I am still referencing it for advice!

housebee:  Not to threadjack but congrats on the twins! I just gave birth to two boys in Jan. We do have a multiples thread here on the boards…not its not very active, but I thought I would direct you to it in case you wanted to read what other mothers of multiples went through.
