I went on my first shopping trip this weekend to David’s Bridal. I didn’t have high expectations. I went in mainly to see what styles of dress I would like. The salesperson was nice but a little pushy. They had me select some favorites from the website prior to my appointment, and this Galina was my top choice. It was the first dress she put on me and I actually really liked it. I felt that the v-neck made me look a little taller (at 5’1″) than the strapless ones I tried on. And I really like the cascading ruffles on the back. I almost took the plunge, but something was holding me back. I don’t know if it was the princess seams that didn’t really line up (hopefully alterations can fix that) or the lace pattern that was just meh. Yes, I’m picky! Maybe it was the thought that there may be something better out there…this was my first shopping trip after all. I gave myself a 4K budget but we’re doing a beach elopement so I don’t want anything too elaborate. Should I be getting a ‘feeling’ and just know it’s the one??? Still, $400 for a dress isn’t bad either. The saleslady was really pushing for me to buy it then and there. Here’s a picture. Please excuse the general flabbiness…FH and I both have “dating body” but hopefully I’ll lose the extra 5lbs by September 🙂

I reallt like your dress! And you don’t look flabby at all, you look amazing and I think the dress is perfect for a beach wedding!

from a bride thathas had dress reget…my advice is wait and go somewhere else and try on some others 😉 you can always go back and get it…or find it elsewhere, but buying then regretting stinks.
It is beautiful though and looks really good on you 🙂

I love it on you! unfortunately I can’t help much w/ knowing the “feeling” =/ but you look great!

First off, you look great. I lovvvvee the back of that dress. To be totally honest, though…I feel like the front needs something. Since you’re having a beach wedding, maybe a really fun, chunky coral or turquoise necklace would make it pop. Or a different belt could be an option too.

I would say 2 things.
The dress is amazing on you, but that’s MY opinion- not yours.
You didn’t love it, you liked it a lot, that’s how I read it- with that…
you should go try on a few more somewhere else so you can either realize that IS THE ONE or realize it is not.
I say this because I had a dress in mind *the one i bought* but had to try on like 12 dresses to convince myself that I loved that dress because it wasn’t as ‘weddingy’ as I believed it should be.
Basically I put myself through hell instead of just trying the damn thing on- however it made the last dress (the one I got) that much better.
i also don’t cry a lot and I cried, the gay bestie cried and my super NON emotional bridesmaid cried.
My mom also said I looked beautiful, which I didn’t even know she knew that word!!!

I would suggest you try a few other dress shops so you cna compare. Personally, I decided on my dress after checking out the competition and sleeping on it.

- Wedding: August 2013 - The Liberty House
I think it is really cute, but you should definitely look around more

Sleep on it, for sure. You’re not in a time crunch, nor is it the last one they have, so if you don’t have an “I can’t live without it” feeling, keep shopping.
IMO, it’s a beautiful dress on you, and perfect for a beach wedding, but if you’re feeling meh, it’s not the one.

I think it’s a pretty dress and it looks lovely on you. Having said tha, I don’t think it’s unique enough to buy without looking at and trying on other dresses first. You can always go back to it!

I’ve been to 3 different places so far in and in each one there was one or two that I loved but I’m waiting for the “moment” that this is the dress and I haven’t felt that yet. If you’ve only been to one, I would try more and keep this in the back of your mind to return to if needed.

Love the back of your dress, but listen to your heart. Go out there and try a few more dresses on! You have time — find something you really love!! 🙂

Hi! I too went to DB as my first trip to see what styles looked good on me. I liked one dress, and the others i thought were horrible. I say go to more bridal places. You dont have to chose right now. And with your budget, there are many more beautiful dresses!

Thanks, ladies. I really do like the style of the dress, especially the back. But I do wish it was made with better material. You can’t really tell from my crappy phone picture, but the chiffon has princess seams and it wouldn’t always line up with the seams of the inner lining. Since the chiffon is pretty thin, it looked odd having 4 lines going down the front. I don’t know if that can be fixed with alterations??? For the price, maybe I can buy it and have a seamstress alter the lace as well? The pattern just looked a little cheap. Or are there any suggestions for similar dresses by another designer?

I think the dress looks good on you, but really cheap and bad on the model. I find most model pictures to be awful, though. I suggest looking around — go to smaller, local salons as well — and see what else you find. David’s Bridal is not the best you can do! It’s not even always the cheapest.
