@Astra:  i just visited with one too.  i walked in knowing my color and that was it.  i really left a lot of it up to her.  i would suggest sending a picture of the dress and the venues so you know what you really need.  otherwise they will lead the conversation.

Make sure you know exactly what you want and have a budget set out. Who needs a bouquet, a corsage, a boutineer, how many centerpieces, etc. If you have a good firm list, then it is less likely that you will go overboard.

Also, see if they will deliver (negotiate to see if they’ll throw that in for free!) and if they will label everything with people’s name instead of positions. (Example: George instead of Father of the Groom or Cindy instead of Maternal Grandmother of the Bride)

We only interviewed florists with excellent reputations but I still asked to see an  event similar to mine set up before signing a contract. Don’t rely on photos alone. For all you know the people who did that level of work may now be working somewhere else.

Come prepared with colors and pics of dresses/venues. In my opinion, i think it is better to have some idea of what you want, unless you are totally trust your florist. I am not a flower person so we actually are having fake flowers. I have purchased all of them from hobby lobby and will only be used for bouquets and for boutineers (sp). I think flowers are a huge waste of money, BUT that is just me! Good luck and dont be too nervous!!!
