Our wedding isn’t until August, but we got the first of our wedding gifts in the mail two weeks ago! I guess some guests are just early birds, hehe.

We opened the packages right away – just so we could see what’s inside, who it’s from, and sent a thank you card.  Wouldn’t want our guests to be worrying about whether their gifts got lost in the mail! But we won’t be using any gifts until after the wedding, so it’s all just going to pile up in the corner for now.

@Ms.Teddy: How fun! I love getting wedding oriented mail ๐Ÿ™‚  This is what I would do while waiting for the FI to come home…. drool over the gifts, shake the gifts, pet the gifts, and a little cuddling won’t hurt…. lol just kidding!  You get the idea, wait it out for the FI ๐Ÿ™‚

@Ms.Teddy: if you think your FI would want to take part in the gift opening, then maybe you should wait for him. it’s only 1 more week – guests won’t be wondering where their gifts went after only a week.

*But*: one time, my FI returned home from work before I did and there was a gift waiting for us – and he called me at work to tell me. And I was so surprised that we got a gift and I was so curious as to who would have sent a gift so early, that I had him open it while I was on the phone ’cause I couldn’t even wait until I got home from work!  So maybe you could still open your gift “together” with your FI without waiting for him to come home ๐Ÿ˜‰

Are they off you’re registry? Look at what’s been crossed off the list. Then you know, and you still get to open together, lol!

You need to open it right away, because you need to send a thank you as soon as possible so that they know you got them and appreciate them.

Waiting until after the wedding isn’t a very good option, because they will think you are ungrateful for the gifts or haven’t received them.

We opened our gifts from FMIL and FFIL this weekend!! I’m glad I stumbled on this post because it’s a reminder I need to get a Thank  You card in the mail!!

Ours was a complete bedding ensemble and we’ve already washed it and put it to use! They didn’t mind and we were very excited because our new bedroom suit just got delivered Friday, too! ๐Ÿ™‚

@Ms.Teddy: You can wait until FI gets there and include in the Thank You note “sorry for the delay, but Joe was out of town on business and we wanted to open them together” or something like that!
