A very similar thing happened to me with my invitations- and it was also the very first thing I bought for the wedding.  We got SO many compliments on them, and we were shocked because we didn’t spend much money on them.

FutureMrs.Cammack:  Super exciting! I haven’t made any purchases yet, but I kick myself for passing up a very similar deal at Michael’s before I was engaged. Now I’m always on the lookout. I want to design and print my own invitations. Hopefully I’ll run across a deal too!

That is an awesome deal on invites!  We got a killer deal on wine last week (we get to provide the alcohol for the bartender).  FI and I took Friday off to get our marriage license and visited our favorite winery that afternoon to get the wine.  We didn’t realize they were having a giant sale on that same day.  They had an issue with their bottling line and a bunch of wine got mislabeled.  The wine itself is fine, it’s just the labels that are messed up.  They can’t sell it in stores because the labels are wrong, so they were selling it themselves for dirt cheap, like $4 for what is normally a $15 bottle of wine.  In total, I think we spent $6 per bottle and we have enough for the reception, rehearsal, and day after brunch.

Wow, that is a major deal! Congrats!!

We haven’t done super major shopping yet since we have a long way to go still, but we are picking up small things here or there along the way. I think our biggest deal was a few candlestick holders we found at a three shop, three of them for less than five bucks. Their original color and artwork is super ugly that’s plastered all over them, but we’re going to spray paint them silver and since their actual body is really nice I think they’re going to turn out very pretty. We’re using them as part of out centerpieces so I’m very excited!
