My first year anniversary is not until October, but reading some of the other posts got me thinking about what to do for it. All we ever did on our dating anniversary was dinner out and a movie. But for our wedding anniversary I’d like to do something different. Any suggestions? What did you do to celebrate your first wedding anniversary?

We went to Jamaica. It was awesome! Normally, we just do dinner or something, but our first wedding anniversary was also a big dating anniversary as well, so we went all out.

We were on our honeymoon/first wedding anniversary trip, and we went out to dinner and had a delicious bottle of wine. So we were on a trip, but if we hadn’t been, we’d have just gone out to dinner.

For our 1 year anniversary I didn’t want to be disappointed, so I told him up front that the anniversary was paper and I expected more than just a card. He ended up planning a surprise weekend to NYC where we saw a broadway musical and ate dinner at a great Italian place. He also does write the sweetest cards ever. It was perfect.
For him, I surprised him by decorating the apartment with paper everything: paper confetti, paper banners, paper fans in our wedding colors, a custom made paper table runner, and custom wrapping paper with our wedding pictures on it. I made an almond cake (cause that was our wedding cake flavor) and my first ever whole roast chicken from scratch. Then for his present, I gave him a framed picture from Indigo Night. It was a great first anniversary. 🙂

_blackbird_: We are taking our “honeymoon” over the week of our first anniversary. Originally we had planned to do a ton of cave tours in South Dakota but now I’m thinking of changing it to Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, or Estes. Either way, spending time in nature and enjoying each other’s company alone.

We bought a house about a week before our anniversary, so we just went to a local rennesance fair, and probably out to eat.

Got pregnant. It was not exactly intentional. Lol.

You’re telling me that nobody ate the top layer of their year-old frozen wedding cake?!? The shame!

Not married, but have thought about buying this as a present for my boyfriend. Looks fun, and there are reviews of people who have bought it as their paper anniversary.
It is canvas that you lay out and use body paint as you do the deed to create your own art. (PIC from uncommongoods). They have other colors as well if you search the site.

On our 1 year anniversary, we visited the location we got married and reminisced about the wedding day. A friend met us there and took a few photos of us in the same place we stood when we got married. That part was a surprise to DH and he loved it and wants to do that on every anniversary. We also went to dinner at the same place that housed our wedding reception. After that we came home and ate our frozen/thawed wedding cake (gross!) and had a bottle of our favorite wine from our honeymoon. Basically we just recreated the wedding day in a way! It was so fun!

Ours isnt until October either, but we’ve already been thinkig about it. My DH is not one to celebrate holidays or anniversaries (seriously, he tried to skip Christmas and said it was “just a day”) so I told him right away that I do expect SOMETHING and that it needs to be special. He did a lot of research and came up with the idea of picking out a wedding album and going through all our wedding pictures together and putting them in the scrapbook. It’ll be a way to reminisce about the day and see our pictures together, plus it counts as paper since we will be printing them and putting them in the book! I love the idea though because it’s a romantic activity and not just a typical date.
Idk what else we will do yet but that’s a thought. (Unless you’re more organized than me and have already made a wedding album lol)
