I hope that it all works out OK. I would hope that she'd be able to miss one day of classes if she lets the prof know on the first day and establishes herself as a good student in the first few weeks. If she left on Thursday evening, you'd think she could be there, and then she'd have all weekend to recover and do the necessary make-up work.
@village_skeptic: Yeah, those are our thoughts too. We're trying so hard to be understanding. It's just a little frustrating. Hopefully everything works out.
Aw that sucks. :( That is always awkward, regardless of the reasoning behind it. You guys seem to be dealing with it as best as you can. Also? I *wish* one of FI's Groomsmen would back out. He's been a huge headache and a PITA.
On a positive note: You're getting married the day before my birthday! Yay! :)
Also, I know this is kind of rude, but didn't she get to choose her summer classes? And can't she maybe miss *one* day? I missed a couple of days for summer classes before and it wasn't the end of the world. Granted, it's entirely her life and her decisions, etc, but it does seem a bit ... I don't know.

@AmeliaBedelia: haha yay! Yeah, I think that's why FI's feelings are so hurt. Missing one day shouldn't kill her, but I guess we'll see. I don't think the program she's in is too crazy. I feel like if FI cared enough to ask her to stand up with him, she should be willing to try to work it out. It just seems like it doesn't mean as much to her :/ which makes me sad for him.
@itshouldsnow: Yeah, that is rather disappointing. One of my least favorite wedding planning discoveries has been discovering that my perception about friendships isn't always the same as the other person. It's really eye-opening, and not always in a good way. The good news is that there are still others that are/will be amazing for you guys on your day!

Just a mini vent.
She just sent him a message on FB saying she has summer classes with a sad face. As of right now, she hasn't said that she can't for sure but she probably wouldn't send the message if she could still do it. We're trying to be understanding, she lives about 3 hours away and we're getting married on a Friday. I just feel so bad for FI, he's really bummed. :( It's sad.
