So I’m a bridesmaid in my friend wedding may 2014 . She we pick our dresses out . It hasn’t even been a week and she’s already calling us asking when we’re paying for our dresses!! So here’s the deal I’m a size 16 right now but I’m doing a 6week workout boot camp challenge starting this week. I’m planning on losing about 50 lbs before her wedding . She’s wanting me to pay for my dress at least before September .the lady at the bridal shop said it takes 4-6 months to get the dresses so she said if we ordered in October we would have it by March. Is it wrong for me to want to wait till the last minute to order ? I just don’t want it to look stupid on me if they have to do extreme alterations plus I heard it can cost a lot to do extreme alterations. She called me yesterday saying at least one person has to pay for their dress by next week to get the discount but I think it should be one of the other girls not me.

Its definately not wrong! Honestly you have plenty of time! Could you ask the bride if you can wait until the new year? I have 2 girls in the same boat. My fsil is trying to loose weight and asked if she could put off buying her dress until christmas, and my sil is 9 months pregnant… Lol so obviously i wouldnt make her order right now! Lol ive only ordered my MOH’s dress so far, and I had to kidnap her to take her to get measured for it lol so I know what your bride is anticipating, but just be open and honest.
If she is gung ho about you ordering, alterations can do wonders! Just buy the dress in your current size. (Dresses can always be taken in Letting them out is a bit harder!)

I don’t see the big deal of ordering before October. If you guys miss the discount then its your problem not the bride’s. Did you tell the bride you are doing the boot camp and want to wait?

@LovelyLaura: yes I’ve told her my concerns but it seems like she understands my problem
