Love mine...i have a Solia with tourmaline. Tourmaline is a stone that absorbs energy or something...however it works, it's 'special property' is reducing frizz when you flat iron with it. I paid around $85 and I think i bought if off amazon? it's black with blue stone....i like it better than a Chi, which I've used before. I have naturally wavy hair and a Chi tends to frizz me out a little unless a professional does it. I could never get it right myself. I've had it for like, 4 years!
I loved the Chi.. My friend let me borrow hers after she buzzed her hair ( & didn't need it anymore) She grew out her hair and wanted it back :(
I bought one - not the chi. and it is definatly not as good. I have really stubborn hair and the chi worked like a dream! :)
I've had my Bio Ionic iSmooth for alomost 3 yrs and love it! Also has great reviews:

I personally haven't tried the Chi, but I have friends that adore theirs:

EDIT: Granted i bought mine a few yrs ago and right after a break up when I was more inclined to spend more $$ on vanity, but I don't recall paying anywhere near $175 for my flat iron...
The Chi is my best friend when it comes to straightening my thick, coarse, and wavy hair at home. It is definitely worth the money!
I also have a Solia tourmaline and am very happy with it. I got it off of Folica.com for like $90 I think.
love my Chi works amazing with my wavy thick hair to make it nice and straight. worth the 100 bucks easily.
I have a Sedu that I bought from folica.com that I LOVE. And the site has good customer service -- the first one I bought died a few months after I got it and they shipped me a new one very quickly. That replacement iron has been with me 5 years and is still going strong. And I use it every day.
I love my Chi. I have used them for about 7 years, and just bought my second one last year.
Ive had 3 CHI's over the last 8 years-- one crapped out after a couple years and another I killed on a trip abroad. I love it. I have very curly, thick hair, and it works REALLY well. My hair stays straight unless its really humid out till I wash it. No other straightener that's cheaper will work for me! Another one my hair dresser has is an FHI? that works well too.
i have a hot blue chi from Ulta. My friend's nicer chi worked better on my hair, but i have no complaints about the chi. I do have to make sure i have product in my hair though so it doesn't get over-done.
ETA - mine was originally 120 or something, but on sale at Ulta for 100. Then i used a 20% printed coupon from the web (and they put someting in their weekly circular, fyi) so with tax it was about 80 bucks. It was about the same online for the same iron, even on discount sites, so I went with it.
I love my CHI!!! After years using a Conair $30 one, I'm so glad I converted. You can find it for $90 on drustore.com with free shipping! Here's a picture from this weekend with my husband 3 days after using the CHI. It stayed like that until I washed it.
i'm a hairdresser and ive been using the same iron for 3 years now and i love it. its from the compagny Rusk. i love it. and they come in different sizes depending on your lenght or effects you want.
I have had 2 chi - both worked great on my hair - but stopped working after a couple of months (electrical problem with the cord?) - so I will NOT buy Chi again.
I am now using a HAI that my hairdresser reccommended and it is great. I got it for a great deal at folica.com
I am a huge sucker for infomercials and bought the instyler. Have to say I love it!
CHI all the way! I have my cosmetology licence and all my hairdresser friends use them! The CHI is the best flat iron I have ever used! I cost me about $100 but it was well worth the cost!
I have super curly hair and I straighten my hair almost daily. I have a chi turbo and it works great..I got mine off ebay for like $120. It feels like its a little damaging to my hair and I still love it. Here is how curly my hair is and here is it straight. (had to black out the little bro's face)

I use a no-name straightener I got at Sally Beauty Supply for $20 bucks six years ago. It doesn't heat up as intensely as it used to, but it works really well. I have naturally wavy hair, but the biggest key for me is using a straightener product first. I think that's more important than the tool :)
I have Sedu and absolutely love it! I bought it on folica.com for $125.
Add me to the CHI bandwagon. I paid a bit over $100 for it but it was totally worth it.
I bought a Jilbere from Sally Beauty Supply and I love it. It heats up quick and gets the job done for about $30-$40 is what I paid.
I got mines from Sedu on folica.com. Its amazing!!!! I love it, but I have been thinking about getting a ghd. I've heard good things about them.

You know how when you wake up your motor skills are a little off. Well, in an early morning spazz, I accidentally knocked my flat iron off of the dresser. Its now in 2.5 pieces... not cool.
Clearly I need a new one...
Anyone love their flat iron? Where did you get it? And if you don't mind, how much was it?
