I don't have the typical asian hair. Its not straight, black, thick and shiny! ha! stereotypical... As I was researching hair does, I always went back to Mrs, Caramel's hair do. I loved it first sight, but thought my hair can never ever do that, so I moved on. But, i can't help but to go back to that style. So, I had to admit it...it's that hair do or no hair do at all...hehe!
My question...how do I get a flat limp thin and dull hair to become thick and wavy and shiny?? The salonist suggested I do extensions. Not just clip ons but glueing extensions to my hair ONE hair at a time...and the price tag on that is 700 buckarroos!!! =0
What are some cheaper ways to go about this? Anyone using extensions (clipons, glue ons, stick ons...etc etc) and can recommend some good natrual ones with waves in it like Mrs. Caramel (come to think of it, maybe she did use extensions...hmmm...not sure)?
Could you use a "fall" or some extra hair that's clipped in to get the fullness you want? I'm a nordic blond, with fine, thinner hair... never underestimate the power of backcombing and hairspray to help get a thicker, chunkier look.
I am thinking I can do clipons but what are some good ones? Hairspray...tons of it....works. I'll definitely be needing tons of that. But my hair is so thin. I want the thick curls.
Can I can get any recommendations on where to go to buy clipons, what brand to buy or whats the best way to go about getting the look?
I don't know what to tell you about the limp part, but the dull I can help you with!
Last week I purchased Clairols Shine Happy. It is a clear gloss that boosts the shine level. It goes on just like hair dye. Honestly it was the best $9 I have spent at Target.
My hair is the same way and my wedding is in November too. I hate my hair! It used to be so pretty and then I don't know what happened in the last 2 years.
Check out Miss Chanpagne's post about hair extensions...I'm seriously considering using this on my wedding day, but I have to first go out and buy it to try first:
do you plan on leaving it down in curls? because lemme tell ya, i have the same kinda hair as you and there's no hope. if i curl it, it comes undone and lifeless. the only thing that's helped is getting a perm, those nice ones, not the tight old lady ones, called setting perm. if i curl my hair now, it actually has some strength from the perm so it stays!
MsJadey, I was actually considering buying that too! One option...
Callalillies, I have an old perm in my hair, but its VERY loose. I got it for the same reason as you! When I curl my hair now, it stays bc of my old perm. I'm not too worried about the curls, but more of how to get that full look.
I'm thinking of going to Downtown LA and going through their fake hair section...lol~ Trying to research some good places to go and get some nice extensions...hopefully i come out lucky! =)
Novbride08: did your hair grow out? omg cuz mine did and it's even flatter on top! the curls weigh down my entire hair. i have no volume on top. i think i need to get it done again. you know what's helped in the growin out process? this hair lotion kinda thing in a red bottle called Hair hemp? i'm not too sure i have it at home. it defines curls so when it's loose, it kinda tightens it up. pretty cool.
my mom went even far as calling me "Jesus" cuz of my hairdo. apparently, my flat curls remind her of the holy one. thanks mom!
Callalillies: My hair did grow out and it's super flat on top. I am dying to cut my hair but I'm holding back with dear life so I can pull off the hair style for my wedding. After the wedding, the curls on the bottom will be chopped off! Cannot wait!!
I was looking at www.hairpiece.com and they have real hair extentsions for a great deal. I am going to check it out soon, and give an update for anyone else out there having the same prob as me! =)
Novbride: i just remembered!!! get a clear cloating for your hair. it made my hair thicker and i loved it. you're in la right? there's a hair supply shop on crenshaw and venice/pico -= can't remember called alice beauty owned by koreans and if you let them know you're looking for the clear coating, they'll totally help you out.

Also, try that john frieda line (brilliant brunettes?) --there's a leave-in color/shine treatment. Love it.
I also agree on the Jessica Simpson hair extensions like Miss Champs suggested.
