I love that thread what are things that you introduced to your SO/FI. I think there should be a flip side to that...what are things that they introduced to YOU??
I came up with several things:
1. Boston Celtics
2. Boston the city
3. Band KISS and their music
4. Guacamole (we actually found a new love for this a month ago together)
5. at times wearing heels
6. trying to clean my car out more
I'm sure there are more but those are the tops that I can think. What about you ladies??
Asparagus, artichoke, San Francisco, wine country, salmon, Cracked.com, fark.com, martinis, margaritas, olives, wines NOT flavored like other fruits (still love my strawberry rose, though,) and Dragon Age.
washing hair first THEN body (I used to do it the other way around), cats, finance, family guy
Cold weather activities-snowmobling, ice skating, ATVing ust all around playing in the snow. I HATE being cold but I love playing on our "toys"
Onions and peppers (I was a very bland eater), meat cooked medium-well (I was used to well done), buffalo sauce, Limon and cokes, Kanye West (maybe..not sure about this one!), Weeds, Smallville...hm this is more difficult than I thought! We've been together for 7 years so I am sure there is a lot more!
Many bands and movies
-Ween
-Galactic
-Wilco
-My Morning Jacket
-The Princess Bride (I had seen it but never appreciated it as much)
-going on long hikes (3+ miles)
@Gabrielle123: interesting about the washing! The reason you are supposed to wash your hair first then body is so that you wash off the excess shampoo/conditioner that can clog your pores and cause acne!
Snowboarding! And I am now a much more "adventurous" eater. I used to eat very boring plain things, like plain chicken, cheerios, white rice, etc. Now I eat all kinds of things with flavor and spices! LOL
Cooking! DH is an amazing cook. I never knew anything about spices and now I can make amazing soups from nothing. My mother hated to cook, hence I sure never learned.
Patience and focus. He can do one task for a very long time. His self control and discipline have rubbed off on me. I tend to be fast paced and a little impatient. I am a doer, he is a planner.
Cleaning more often. I am more of a deep cleaner, but he is much less messy.
Treating myself and listening to my intuition :)
Skiing, surfing and fries dipped in heinz mayonnaise!
Interesting about the washing hair... I never knew that it was why you do hair first I just always naturally did it! LOL
I thought of something else...
Showering in the am. I'm more of a pm shower chick. I like my sleep and do whatever less I can in am to get more zzz's.
I love this! There a bunch of things I could come up with
@ Future Couture your post...
Relaxing and be more spontanious- I am the type to just want to plan, know when everything is happening (this has helped me calm down with the wedding planning!!) and just going with the flow and not worrying about things. He calms me down when I freak out, and I love him for that
WOW I can so relate!!! I'm the same way. It's so hard to do isn't it! What are tricks...you'll have to let me know. PS...CAPS are better than Bruins! LOL ;)
There's so much!
My bf has helped me grow sooooo much! He's helped me to be a much more confident and out-going person! :D
@Future Couture: Gotta love hockey. I turned him into the huge hockey fan. GO FLYERS!
-Shinedown
-Motorcycles
-Gibson guitars (never going back...)
-How to sautee mushrooms :)
-How to NOT take myself or life so seriously!
Supernatural, Prison Break, Lie to Me, and the Mentalist
Alex Goot youtube videos
Minecraft (my newest obsession)
Garlic dip for pizza
Oral - I never enjoyed getting it before being with my FI, now I love it
- Hiking and being more outdoorsy in general
- Constant Comment hot tea
- To not be judgmental - He makes me a better person!
- TN Titans Football - Go Titans!!
- New kinds of music...even though I have better taste! ;-)
-Papa Johns cheese dip
@yearns4god: Funny! We just made homemade guacamole for the first time last weekend and decided that it was "our new thing"! =)
mexican culture! i came from a small town where the only mexicans were illlegal so they didnt have much influence on the town to living in phoenix and then i met him and suddenly i love everything mexican lol. he makes some bomb carne asada and my favorite tea is no longer sweet tea but jamaica (hibiscus flower tea)
TONS
pittsburghnese...
indian / thai food
airedale terriers / english bulldogs
roller derby
BBC
German Shorthaired Pointers
Quebec City
Fondue (finally this is 'our' thing)
Snowshoeing
The Green Bay Packers
OMG. I can't believe I forgot the biggest one.
DOGS!
I've always wanted a puppy growing up but I couldn't. :( And thus I was always a little afraid of them, like can't even pet them afraid. My husband grew up with animals so we finally adopted one a couple years ago.
She's the best ever!
Metal (Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath), Good Beer, Video games, Horror movies, driving.
- First and foremost, alcohol! I never used to drink before. Not even occassionally. He totally turned that around.
- Sushi. I never even ate fish before and jumped straight into sushi. Lovin' it!
- Not try to plan everything so stringently. I.e. leave room to wiggle and breathe and not sweat the small stuff.
- Be more spontaneous (than what I was.)
- Lots about cars. Particularly those sporty, expensive kind that we can't afford.
- Gave me lots of confidence and to be mentally strong.
- Taught me that not all guys are the same. There are guys out there like him who will love you the same way, if not more as days go by. They won't just do a lot of things to get you in bed and then ease off. We are still going strong and really do the little things for each other as well. I.e. msg'ing occassionally that we miss/love/want each other; flowers; candy; cake (i bake); celebrating all our anniversaries; taking time out for each other, etc.
@kperry3:Shinedown is amazing! my favorite band!!
@yearns4god: The trick, well i'm still working on it! haha I get high strung a lot and I just have to actually listen to him and take his advice. Very few people have the ability to make me just relax and enjoy things, instead of over analyzing. I guess just take the advice, and work on it. It doesn't come easy, but over time, I have worked on it and tried to make sure I talk to him whenever something is bothering me.
@DesireeAnne:haha!! Yeah it was always baseball and football for me, but now i am always checking up on the scores for him while he's at work. I am sure he doesn't mind!
@Gingersnap:What is it with supernatural and smallville?? haha I haven't become a fan of smallville, but definitely supernatul, in fast I'm watching it right now
SUSHI!!! I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole before we started dating but he convinced me to try it and now I am a life-long convert!
Also, football. Because it was either learn the game and get into it or spend every Saturday and Sunday from August until January alone...Ha.
A few different bands, and actually...making our bed every morning. Seriously! I used to never make my bed and now I never leave the house without it made!
lmao! I feel your pain!
Chicken wings. Haha. I used to hate chewing the meat off the bone, but now I'm the biggest fan of wing night!
How I Met Your Mother. We watch this show usually at least twice a night.
Rum and Coke...
There is alot he introduced me to:
@loveknows: oo i fforgot that one!! we got our e pics done at his favorite fishing spot! lol
Beer and meat--how sexist is that? Oh well. I was a vegetarian and a wine-drinker when we started dating and, after 10 years of being a vegetarian, I had to change over for health reasons. FI helped me get over it and helped me enjoy eating (some) meats. Now I love fish and poultry!
I introduced him to wine & coffee, but he definitely introduced me to nice beer. Yum.
