So after revamping our wedding budget we realized we had little money for floral arrangements and fresh flowers are the only option I am interested in. I have perused fiftyflowers and similar sites and intended on a feverish fun work party the day prior to assemble everything.

Everything changed when we found our venue. Its a lovely bed & breakfast farm and it would be silly to bring in flowers when the owner is so incredibly talented, will plant anything I want (our wedding is next year), and also has more than 100 varieties of herbs, berries and such, too!

She has asked me to give her a budget number to work up a presentation for us but I have no idea how much to allot and I don't want to be insulting.

How much are you spending on floral? Are any of you doing a combination of professional and DIY flowers?

    Thx!!

I was intending to go DIY but still considering getting the bouquets professionally done just in case. I'm budgeting $400-$600 for 4 bridesmaids and 1 me + 10 bouts + filler plants for centerpieces.

I think it should depend on what your total budget is? I think $200-300 is more than generous for homegrown/arranged flowers. But what happens if her flowers don't turn out well? I'd work up a back up plan just in case.

@digitorum: Hi! Thanks for your comments. We've looked through her portfolio, plus she had gorgeous arrangements in the inn the day we went up for a visit. I am confident she'll do a beautiful job. I just have no idea on the $$, so hearing from you is very helpful.

She also mentioned that when I come up to drop off the decorated vases and such, I can walk through with her and she'll show me all of the blooms she intends on using, so I'll be able to nix any I don't want last-minute = she is not cutting our flowers until the morning of - they will be super fresh!!

@missmeowwoof: For sure! I am super-excited (if you couldn't tell haha) we've been looking for a venue for months.
