Hey! I’d really like to do my own flowers for my wedding, but at this point I know nothing about floral design! I’ve got just over a year to learn, so does anyone have any reccommendations? I’m going to be in the Syracuse area for the most part, though both my parents and my fiance’s parents live in Western NY, so I’m out there sometimes too…
Soon, I’m going to be checking out some of the local wholesale florists as well as the library for some floral reading material… any suggestions would be appreciated!

I’m doing my own flowers as well. If you look in the non credit courses in most of the local community colleges, they offer one night or one day courses on floral design, etc. Depending on how confident you are, you could always stop at the local farmers market or grocery store and just grab some cheap flowers to see how they look when you put them together. You can make some awesome arrangements and really learn what looks best together and how the flowers should be put together just by fiddling with them. I’ll post some pictures of the flowers I’ve put together. Hopefully it will help!
