I'm not exactly sure what you're going for because, like you mentioned, I picture a more floral/pastel/dainty kind of wedding so I'm no help there. I WILL suggest this though - if you don't have a pinterest.com account then go there and look through pictures! There is bound to be something. :)
I think something like this would be a good floral inspiration for what you are talking about
I think concentrating on the purples are reds, and deeper colors you find at that time of year with a few light colored flowers thrown in for variety would be nice.
Isn't roses the most common flower used in English country themes? Does anyone know the more common floral colors used there? It is difficult finding info on these customs.
At first I was thinking blush pink and black, thought that would cover all bases, mixed with seasonal foilage or greenery. If I could narrow down the common wedding colors and floral colors in English country I may be able to find a color for a base( bm dresses).
Thank you so much and I will check it out. I wasn't sure which way to go with the theme, so I added some more details that may help. Sorry for any confusion.
Wow! that is beautiful, looks like it was scooped up out of a garden. Adding it to my faves. Thank you! If you have any more ideas I would love to see them.
What would be cute is using old vintage ceramic teapots for centerpieces. That would give it sort of a english garden feel too. Sort of like this:

Love that and I have antique milk glass vases etc. already on hand. I think I have down what I am going to do. I have decided to go with a color I just love. I want to wear this rust/copper colored dress I found, since my family says this is my best color. The groom will be in black slacks and jacket-no tie. I will like to use an abundance of fall greenery in strategic places, champagne roses( have peach and pale yellow centers)in glass containers with clear votives and black lanterns on steps.

When I saw this pic, I just went back to some of my fave looks. I am a sucker for warm sunset colors so this is my color inspiration minus the ocean. lol Will have a firepit as well.

To me it has the streamlined look I am after and my containers, florals, greenery, etc. will pull in the english style. With the idea I have in my head and the way the backyard is, I think it will suit nicely. So instead of traditional english, I will incorporate english touches. It will make it much easier to plan out. lol Thank you so much for your help!!!
Oh yes I will also be making greenery garlands that fits with late summer early fall wedding.....
Those are super cute ideas! I love that dress and I think those are going to be beautiful colors, especially for that time of year. I especially like those greenery garlands. I am hoping to incorporate some in my decor, too, if I can find them reasonable priced. I am also using milkglass vases, although my colors are ivory, pinks and mauve. If you aren't on Pinterest, should get on there. You will get all kinds of inspiration. If you like you can look at my Pinterest board, and see if it gives you any ideas. http://pinterest.com/sandythepoet/my-ideal-wedding/
Oh your wedding colors sound so gorgeous. I will check out your board! Thank you so much for all your help!

Hi everyone, I am in the process of ideas for a romantic English Country(tribute to ancestry) wedding with a slight edge(for our fave music) and was hoping to show this through florals and colors. We love the less is more-uncluttered look, so I was thinking one flower type in one color or even all greenery.
I am so confused.
It will be in late summer/early fall of 2012. Second wedding for both so we are also looking to casual and relaxed with maybe 30 guests tops.
I just don't know how to add the slight edge to the romantic English country theme. I considered black but after looking on the internet most english country weddings have lighter or more joyous colors. Please Help. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
