- Wedding: February 2015 - Powel Crosley Estate, Sarasota, FL
Lots of little questions in this post – sorry for the length! 🙂
My wedding is in February at the Powel Crosley in Sarasota. Ceremony and Reception are all on-site – ceremony & cocktail hour outside, dinner inside, reception back outside. I live in Pinellas County (Tampa, St. Pete, Clearwater) area. I’m feeling realy overwhelmed when it comes to the flower/decor part of planning. We’re expecting about 80-100 guests, so we will have about 10-11 dining tables, and about 8-10 tall cocktail tables outside around the lawn.
Budget is a concern: To save money I’m looking for a minimal to medium amount of flowers, and lots of gorgeous greenery. If you have other tips to help me, please let me know!
I want to work lanterns into the decor somehow – I was thinking doing flowers/candles on some tables and lanterns/candles on other tables would be a good way to decrease the flower cost. Do you think that would work well? Also doing lanterns along the staircase where I will walk down to the ceremony site (pictures of venue below).
I’m planning on DIYing a few things: I’m making a giant wreath with our new monogram for the area behind our sweetheart table (above the fire place). I’ll also be purchasing the lanterns and candles myself. I don’t want the stress of DIYing floral parts of the wedding – and I really don’t want to consider fake flowers (even though the fakes ones are really pretty – I prefer real).
I love magnolias, peonies (out of season), garden roses, orchids…
Also, if I go with a lot of greenery, does that change my color palate? I’m trying to stick with lots of cream, and small touches of navy and blush.
Looking at the venue, what else do you think I need? Vendor recommendations and pictures of your events are appreciated! 🙂
THANK YOU in advance for your help!
