Today I had an appointment with the florist and she was so nice but really crushed my vision of my wedding. I wanted hanging candles from branches but those were a fire hazard. Wanted yellow and grey, but she suggested the grey doesn’t match the hall or the gold chiavari chairs we’re getting. AND she suggested my budget is too small for what I want. I’M JUST SO CONFUSED.
I started looking for new colours for our summer wedding. Can you guys vote on the one you like most or make suggestions for colour that look good with gold??

This was so hard to pick! I loved all of them, but I think three is my favorite. 4 seems like it would be a little bit more appropriate for summer though. I feel your pain trying to decide lol

I think you should have yellow and gray because that’s what you wanted to start with, and find a florist that will make it work. I would think gray and yellow would match gold chairs just fine.
A friend of mine did hanging candles but used battery-operated candles instead of real ones for the same effect without the fire hazard…

#3 would be beautiful with gold! #2 was my 2nd choice, since it’s so nice and summery, but I love the chocolate pallete with gold tones thrown in. Good luck… I think they’re all nice choices!

I like #4. Dark gray could look really pretty added to this too!

why cant you get those lcd fake candles – no fire hazard with those. we were having dinner on an old train in NZ and they used these on the table (same reason, fire hazard), i didnt know they werent candles until i looked right inside them

I like all of them, but my favorite is #2. I love shades of blush. On a side note regarding your appt… Your vision belongs to you, and when others can’t see it, that’s their problem–then to say that your budget is too small. It is literally her job to work around what clients want. If I were you, what I would be choosing is a new florist.

Why not find a florist that will work with you? It’s not her job to be decorator. I’m sorry she was such a downer.. Personally I like the last color option best just for the record.

Ooh, I love all of those colour schemes!!! I think the first one is a bit too dark for summer – it would be perfect for an autumn wedding though. I do love the second one and think you could make a beautiful wedding with that – it probably allows for the most versatility with flowers as well. The third one is equally beautiful but again, maybe has a hint of autumn about it, which is ok for an August wedding I think. I ended up voting for the fourth palette as it has the lighter blue that will draw in summer, but I also think it will work very well with the gold chairs.
As for your florist – I don’t think she pointed out anything too terrible. Yes, real candles would be a fire hazard – it was only common sense that caused her to point this out. Grey generally does not go with gold very well so I don’t think there was anything wrong with pointing this out either. As for your budget, I would rather have a florist tell me that my budget won’t work with everything I want rather than get hit with a massively overly budget bill at the end. Talk to her about what flowers you can use that will bring the cost down (aim for in season flowers) and any suggestions she has to make it work. Good luck!

@Ree723: I agree. I don’t think she said or did anything wrong…that is kind of the reason I went with her in the first place cause I’ve seen her work and trust her opinion. I want someone who wants the final product to look good as much as I do. I am more bummed about getting attached to my colour scheme and flower arrangements lol
