My bff (I was the MOH in her wedding in 2008) did (on my recommendation, I worked at Sams Club for 2 years) and they were lovely! She used roses, but it was simple and easy, plus she just wrapped up the bouquets the night before and kept them in the fridge til the wedding! It was easy and cost her less than $50.
@andilene: When they ship them to you do they provide any tubes to keep them fresh? That is what I'm worried about is how fresh they will be...But it seems like such a great deal! You can't even buy fake gerbera daisies for that price :)
I think with her, they shipped them to the Club and she had to go get them! But you can ask at the front desk to speak to someone about purchasing flowers for your wedding and they can tell you everything and the best ways to do it! That is what I would recommend. It's been almost 10 years since I worked there :)
I would go to a local craft / hobby store, Joanns, Hobby Lobby etc. Any of those places will have fairly innexpensive ribbons pins and floral tape etc. You could probably spent 3$ on a piece of ribbon and floral tape and $10 on a bunch of flowers from the grocery store to practice making a bouquet with.... see if it holds up well, how many flowers you will need per bunch, what kind of ribbon you will like best, how long they stay looking fresh etc. That way you will know if you can do it or if it is worth the hundreds of dollars for a florist.
I know you CAN do it and plenty of girls have made thier own bouquets around here, but I would rather waste $13 and know for a fact that I can do it and know exactly what I will need instead of guessing until the day of and then getting frusterated. just a thought.
If I were you I would go with DIY. It's just beyond me, why would 10 more flowers cost $95 more because you are the bride? Anyways, I agree with pp to go grab some ribbon and floral tape head to either Sam's, Walmart or Costco buy a couple bunches of flowers and try them out. And only go to those places since they will be the same places you will order from. Good luck!
I'm ordering all my flowers wholesale online. It's going to be a lot of work, but we're already over budget and this will save us thousands. I think florists are more expensive in this area than other spots around the country.

I'm not a big flower person. But I would like to have nice bouquets for myself and bridesmaids. I really want Gerbera daisies, something simple and my favorite flower. I got a quote today from our local florist. They could do the bridesmaid bouquet for $120 and the brides bouquets for $25 each. Her pictures are beautiful ... BUT then I am trying to save money wherever I can and I saw that Sam's Club (Costco) can deliver 80 Gerbera daisies for $75 where I could do my bouquets...Do you think it's worth it to hire the florist and pay the extra ? Or is it pretty simple to put a bouquet together? Also, has anyone ever used Sams club (Costco) for flowers?
Thanks!
