    Hey Ladies!

I am planning on doing my own flowers and I know that I can go to the flower district for them, but I had a few quesitons..

First - anyone know exactly where it is?  I hear you have to go wicked early in the morning and I'm thinking that it might not be a good thing for me and my 12-year-old daughter to be cruising the streets of LA at 3 or 4 in the morning?

Second - can you place orders for flowers so that you know they will be there?  I would hate to have everything riding on the hope they will have the flowers I want.

Third - anyone know of vendors outside of the flower district that I could work with?  I was thinking local growers so I could help someone in my area?

    Thanks!

I've been to Flower Mart next to Moskatel's.  Here's a link:

     http://www.laflowerdistrict.com/

The address is 766 Wall Street.

According to the site the hours are:

    MWF 8AM-noon ($2 admission)

Tues and Thurs 6AM - noon ($2 admission)

Saturday 6AM to noon ($1 admission)

My friend ordered all the orchids for her centerpieces and bouquets about a month in advance and picked it up the Thursday before her wedding.  Good luck!

I did visit the LA flower district but decided to just hire a florist instead. When I visited, I just wanted to get a feel for the place, so I went a little later (say about 9-10am) to avoid the crowd. That is a good time to go if you want to just talk to some of the vendors to see how you can place your orders & shop around for prices.  If you go too early, it might be TOO busy. But if you go around 11am, most of the shops are already cleaning up and closing. So definitely check it out first and shop around. It's pretty big and intimidating at first, but it is fun to see all the beautiful plants and flowers.

I also found out a lot of the vendors just outside of the flower district does centerpieces and stuff. You can make an appointment, have them do mockups for free, before you commit to their services. So neat!
