Yes you can Associated Flowers is a great place to go. They have a huge selection. Another place across the street closer to the beginning of the block is good to... I can't remember there name right now, but I will soon.

I think that being in NYC and having the flower district nearby you should def go there! I'm pretty sure most of them sell to the public.
I'm planning on hitting the district when I'm home in May to scope out which florist to use. Let me know which shops you girls plan to use!
Oh and be sure to ask if their willing to set aside "stock" for you. Wouldn't want to go there 2-3 days before your wedding to find out they are out of stock of your flowers!
HERE's a really good article about the NYC Flower District and a list of some of the shops based on what they sell. Fresh florals, equipment, greenery, etc.
I would suggest shopping around first... although Associated is the perfect place to see all of the flower assortments and color arrays- they are too overpriced!
I'm wondering if you have a recommendation for the flower district. Associated's website says you must be in the trade.

@Ruby79: I'd love to hear how this turned out. I'm finding that most of the interesting shops, including, associated, sell only to the trade and not retail. Any recommendations?

Does anybody know if you can buy flowers in the flower district in manhattan without a Tax ID number? Will they sell direct to the public? Has anyone bought flowers there before- know of a good place to go? I am planning on doing my own flowers but do not know whether to order them online or try the flower district. Thanks!
