hey bees! i was wondering if it is really necessary to have a flower girl and a ring bearer? my FI's daughter was supposed to be our flower girl but we've been having issues with making that happen. had a few other set backs in regards to a flower girl and a ring bearer also. needless to say, im less than a month away from the wedding and still dont have a flower girl or ring bearer. is it absolutely necessary that i have them? at this point it would be easier to just not have a flower girl or ring bearer. if i should still have them, i was honestly thinking about using my moms dogs and letting my sister walk them down the aisle. let me know what you all think!

It definitely isn't necessary to have either flower girl or ring bearer.  We aren't having either because we both felt better just having adults in the wedding party to keep it "serious" I guess.  If you still want petals on the ground you can have the bridesmaids put them down as they walk down.  The ringbearer doesn't usually hold the real rings anyways, so he doesn't have any role other than looking cute anyways.  So, do whatever makes you happy!

I really want both but its looking like we won't have either, no little kids to use, I just wanted it for looks, I don't think its a necessity.

I wouldn't worry about it. My friend didn't have either and her wedding was beautiful! I am only having my nieces, no ring bearer (which is driving my sister crazy because she wants me to put her friend's kid in so she can invite them. Ugh! I've never even met the people!).

Definitely not necessary. We won't be having either.

It reminds me of a story though!  When my FI was 3 years old or so, he was a ring bearer.  With all the chaos of the day (he wasn't with his parents because he was with the bridal party for most of the day), no one remembered that he needed to be fed!  The bridal party had a few drinks, but not really any food during most of the day. So he got home at 10pm, with sore feet from his too-small shoes, starving!  Poor guy!

It's not a necessity. It's just all in what you want.....we're having both.
