So a couple weeks ago I inquired at the bridal shop that is handling my dress about flower girl dresses. I decided it would be nice to have a tulle skirt and satin bodice, maybe some cool crystals placed somewhere. Just simple.
So I got a call that the final price of this said dress would be $531.00 That does not include the flowers I’m getting for her or the shoes. That’s just the dress.
So I was discussing this dress with fiance and today I decided that I will go shop around. So I walked into this bridal salon, which is kind of … not so nice as mine, and they have like a huuuugeee quantity of little flower girl dresses that are discontinued and they are all $49.
I saw a dress that would do. It was satin bodice, probably the color of my dress- forgot to bring my swatch so I will have to take it back to check- but it was sleeveless, with a long tulle skirt. I mean, it seems to be what I had in mind.
What do you think? Should I splurge on a flowergirl dress or spend that elsewhere? I honestly don’t think it’s realistic to spend that much on the flowergirls dress. BUT my bridal party only consists of the flower girl, ring boy, best man, moh and bride and groom. So what each person wears is important … I guess.
I’m confused. What should I do?

This decision is ultimately up to you, your FI and your budget. I would say pass on the $500+ flower girl dress especially since she will probably only wear it once and most likely will get stained and such by her or other little kids. Save the money for another part of your wedding. You can make a $50 dress look stunning so it just isn’t worth spending that much when you still have to get her accessories. That is just my opinion though.

Umm…I would say get the $50 dress. I mean, if it’s basically what you wanted in the first place, then why not? You can always add crystals on if you want. =)

I agree with RoddyBride. She will never wear it again or if she does, she’ll wear it for dress up. And get it dirty, stained, etc. Save your money for something else.

My bridal party is a flowergirl, junior bridesmaid and best man – however, I wouldnt pay $500 for a flower girl dress. Its not like a bridemaid who might be able to wear it again – since kids grow fast. If you can afford it and really want it – that’s all you & go for it – however, I personally since i am paying for the flower girl dresses myself am looking for a bargain – I had my eye on a $250 dress & I found a website who makes the same dresses for $50-$60 plus shippping so I am going for it – plus their customer service has been really nice with me and even emailed me real pictures of the fabric as opposed to just seeing it on the internet on a model dress.
i posted the original $250 dress & then the dresses I am getting in the corresponding colors since they custom make them for you. ( blue and brown)
Honestly, $50 is a great deal and if your happy go for it!!!!!!! Seriously $500+ for a flowergirl is a bit over the top.

Omg MsGuavaTini that last picture is soooooo gorgeous. What a dress!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m confused about the entire flower girl dress situation. I cannot figure out what to do.
My wedding gown: Corset bodice is lined in duchess satin silk with venice lace over and swarovski crystals and pearls and the skirt is a big tulle skirt.
My sister is MOH and her dress is custom made and corset bodice and chiffon. It’s a stunning formal dress and can be worn many times again.
I don’t know what kind of dress to get the flower girl. I don’t know what material it should be or what it should look like. Should I do tulle since my dress is tulle? Could I do something like that pic above or would that clash b/c me moh and her all have different styles?

Thanks ladies! The second dress is the style I am ordering – One in the Blue (along the sash and trim of model) with Brown sash and trim and the other for my junior bridesmaid in Brown and Blue sash and trim. My ceremony is outside & they are tafetta b/c its at 6pm – so it will look ok as the night goes on – but they are shorter since it’s outside!
