How close to the wedding should you get the flower girls dress? I have three little girls two of them will be 3 years old and the other one 2 years old. I guess I just don’t know when to tell their moms “Hey you need to have the dress ordered by this date.” Or how does that work?

@RadiantRed: We bought the dresses and gave them as “thank you for lending us your adorable kids” presents!

Ya ill probably just buy the dress myself 6-7 months prior, in a size or two bigger and then have my mom do a quick fix to alter it the week of the wedding. Kids grow so fast its really hard to tell when you should order and what size.

We got ours three months before the wedding. I bought them and mailed them to the flower girls.

@RadiantRed: my flower girl dress took 12 weeks to come in, so I wouldn’t wait too long depending where you’re ordering from!

@RadiantRed: Kids don’t grow all that much width wise when they are toddlers, but they do grow taller.
Most girls dresses can be tied with a sash so fit isn’t crucial unless they are too big in the shoulders.
I would look at the after Holiday season sales.

Thanks ladies! So it sounds like I should be buying the dresses. My wedding is in April so maybe I can just get them in January sometime.
I can’t believe the cost on these dresses! To find a really cute one they are a bit pricey but I guess everything for a wedding is though. And of course I choose to have three flowers girls!

You don’t need to buy the dresses. My wedding is in less than two months and the flower girls’ mother is buying their dresses now. I think it is a little late but as long as they arrive on time, it’s fine. She is getting them from Etsy. They are light purple tutu dresses. My BMs are wearing dark purple.

Stiletto13 Sounds pretty! My BM’s are wearing long black evening dresses so I think I want the flowers girls be unexpected and wear a beautiful black dress!

I got my girls’ dresses a month before the wedding. I purchased my smallest girl (2) a dress in chiffon and my other one was a size 6 in satin. They are my daughters so that’s why I bought them but I waited because they grow out of their size so fast! And also because I was being picky about their dresses and it took me that long to make a decision!

@RadiantRed: Have you tried eBay? I got gorgeous ivory dresses with huge tulle skirts for my FGs for just $25 each.
Doing a quick search, I found a couple options for dresses that come in multiple sizes/colors, including black:
Hope this helps!
ETA: I ordered mine a week ago for my October 5 wedding. So about 7 weeks prior to the wedding day.
