so she is crazy cute. and i don't have any daughters, but I did have two flower girls and I let them do whatever they wanted with their hair. Honestly, it is such a big day for a little girl especially if its her mom getting married! I would opt to let her have it be a big day for her too - and if a french twist does the trick, there is no way she won't still be the cutest little girl there.
I still remember being a flower girl when I was 5 :)
Do a french twist for the rehearsal dinner? Her hair is so beautiful!! I would bribe her to wear it down!!
She is so beautiful and her hair is amazing!
But I think you should let her do what she wants. She is so cute that no matter what she does, she will look perfect. And I bet you will be the only noticing such small details whereas being able to look exactly how she wants will mean the world to her. My instinct was to dress up my flower girl/niece like she was my little doll, but in the end, the excitement she got picking out her own things was too precious to tamper with.
why would it have to be done professionally? a hairdresser for a five year old sounds completely outrageous. a french twist is really really easy.you literallyjust twist it up and bobby pin it.
that said, i guess only Mom can call this one. does your daughter, at five, usually get to choose her own clothes and hairstyles? if she usually does, than i think you have your answer.
She's so cute! I usually let kids in my life do their own thing, never one to stunt creativity or independence BUT, I'd toootally bribe her to wear it down. Tell her you just can't afford to pay to get it done and the headband will surely work. Just show her some pictures of girls she admires wearing them. In the end though, if its a huge deal for her, letting her do her own thing won't take away from how adorable she'll look on your day!
LOL - yep, as you can tell by the cheerleader/Hello Kitty outfit, I'm not usually one to "stunt" her creativity.
with a few practice runs you should be able to do a french twist on her w/o a professional doing it. there are play by play instructions online. good luck
I say let her do what she wants! She'll look adorable either way, and I think it's important for her to feel special on your big day.

This is all a preview of the epic mom/daughter battles that I'm sure we'll have when my daughter is a teenager, BUT she is insisting on wearing her hair up for our wedding. She wants a French twist. This is, I'm sure, inspired by either her ballet classes or the "Fancy Nancy" series of books.
I *really* want her hair down. Her hair is seriously covetable...came from the ex and not from me! :-) Plus, having my hair person do her French twist costs money, wearing it down is free.
So, here's the poll: 1. Let the little one get her own way - a French twist is a big deal for a 5-year-old, or 2. Bribe her with a really cute headband to match the dress, thereby convincing her to wear her hair down.
I'll post a pic or two of the little one below.
