If you want orchids in your hair then do that. There's no rule anywhere that everything has to match.
Personally, I prefer a variety versus all matchy-matchy. I think it's more visually appealing for your guests to use different types and/or shades of pink, etc.
I agree with FarFromAChildBride - a variety is nice. Too matchy is nice but just that...too matchy. Also, do what you want and what makes you happy.

I am having different shades of pink roses for my bouquets and centerpieces. Unfortunately, I don't like roses for boutonniers or as hair flowers. Is it okay to use a different flower for our hair and boutonniers? I was thinking of a pink dendrobium orchid. Would this work, or do the flowers have to be the same?
