So when Mr.Watermelon proposed we were overjoyed, so was mama watermelon. We (the mom and I) both had the same reaction immediately, “Lets do the flowers!!!”
So our DIY adventures began.
After research and searching around at flower markets we made a list of flower contenders and checked it twice.
Today we started a trial run. We worked mainly on the centerpieces for our tables.
Some background: Our wedding reception will be completely outside. Yay! I think as long as it doesn’t rain. The setting is lush and tropical. Think climbing vines, orchids and huge bananna trees everywhere. The tables are 12′ long and will covered with white tablecloths and teal runners. My colors are teal and yellow.
We ended up doing a few arrangments and I like them all but need to choose just one. Its so tough. Bees I need you! What do you think?! Which Option should I go with?
Thanks a bunch!!!!!

Hi Miss Watermelon – Thank you for your post. Since we have started our planning, I’ve always wanted to do the flowers. Some people say it’s on of those things that you should NOT DIY…but I feel like I can do it! Your post made it more clear to me that I can do it too!
What type of flowers/greens did you use? Those are similar flowers I want to use!
Since your tables are long, I think that any of them can work. So I would ask another question. Are you hoping to save money here, or since you are doing them yourself, it’s not a big concern? Option 1 seems to be more of a money saver – while it seems that Option 2 would take up more flowers. I LOVE the wooden box in Option 3, but I don’t feel that it’s the right size for your table. (However, I think it would be fabulous on your escort card table, guest book table, etc).
Given all of that, I choose Option 1 – instead of clustering the 3 vases together, you should scatter the different height/sized vases (more than 3) along the length of the table. (Look at the picture below for what I mean)

I like option #1 best and #3 next however…I think that the lone calla in the smaller vase needs to be left a bit longer so that it doesn’t look like its stuck in the opening of the vase. good job over all!! Wanna do my flowers?…kidding…lol

I really like option 1 🙂 Hope this helps

I love all your options too!!!
They are beautiful.
If I were you I would use them all. Just put different ones on each table 🙂

Wow! Thanks Bees! Its so nice to get some perspective.
Neontl-thanks for the detailed response! I used a ton of different flowers. I started with a big wish list and got whatever was in season at the flower market here in Oakland. Was there one you liked best? I tried to stay within a color palette of yellow and white. I used mainly the following floweres and greens:
Rosese, Ranuculus, Mums, Mini Callas, Lisianthus, or the flowers
Hypernicum and Saldago for filler
Lemon leaf and Ruscus for the greens
Oh and the fun fern too which I call aspargus fern but I think there is a more official name!
My wedding is in June and I plain to change the big mums to dhalias. I think I’ll use billy balls and varigated pit, which was on the wish list
I like the idea of scattering down the table. I may try a set up of that and see how it works. In terms of budget I actually think option #2 is the best. Although I would want to use a different conatiner. The basket was just for size.
The idea of using them all never crossed my mind! How fun wiyld it be to something different on every table. Too busy?
Thanks a bunch Bees! You are the best!

I am so jealous of you and your mom! Wow! I liked #1 the best. I felt #3 matched the least with the lanterns (which are also fabulous). Great centrepieces! Your tables are going to look beautiful.

I like the idea of using them all on different tables, too. Then you don’t have to choose!
Yes, I say use them all also

Looks great! I like option 1 the best – it looks the lushest!
