The price really depends on the area and how much the florists think they can get away with charging. Wedding flowers are also marked up 20% from what they would charge for a "non-wedding" corsage etc.
Most bridal bouquets alone will cost a few hundred dollars or more, and all of the flowers and centerpieces tend to run a few thousand altogether.
If you're looking for a more affordable option, I suggest having a grocery chain with floral department do your flowers. (i.e. Stop & Shop or Price Chopper). I'm not sure where you're located so I dont know what stores for sure. They have standard wedding packages that start around $500.00 No matter what some people think, the floral manager is usually a REAL florist thats in charge of making wedding flowers, so you dont have to worry that some 16 year old is going to be the one throwing something together for your bouquet.
Wow - I must be getting some deal then. Small towns rock! I was quoted 3-500 for all I listed above as an off the cuff quote. The florist is supposed to get back to me when she can call in the details and get a better idea. She insisted that it wouldn't be more than $500.
3-500 is an AMAZING price! Where are you getting your flowers from? WOW you lucked out.
I must update - We are paying $475 plus tax for all the items listed above. My florist is in Little Falls, NY - Designs by Shelly. We'll see if they end up being worth it. 42 days and counting.
Whoever told you that you can't purchase garden roses commercially is WRONG. A good florist can order them for you - or you can order them online yourself. Fifty Flowers sells them:

That's fantastic... I think you got a great deal, even for a small town! Do you know what kind of flowers you're using?
I'm doing peonies, cabbage roses, and callas, and the things you listed for me will be $400 from Wegmans. They're also doing my centerpieces and ceremony decorations. It's going to be about $1000 total, but still a pretty good price! I'm in Rochester.

I gave photos of these bouquets to my florist. I told her I like dalias, garden roses, peonies, ranunclus etc...
I did see the fiftyflowers.com garden roses and planned on showing that to the florist. I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe she couldn't get them before...or maybe not in my budget. We'll see. I don't think that she's trying to scam me or anything.
NYAmber, late May. There were some things I liked that they said they probably couldn't order for me, such as sweetpea, but she didn't say anything about not being able to get garden roses, so I'm assuming they are a go. I'm not sure about the not being able to get them commercially, as I have a friend who used them for her sister's wedding, but I don't know where they came from. I can't do raunculus because they will probably be gone by then, but they're pretty also!
Garden roses are super expensive...My florist actually grows them herself, so I might end up with some, but I'm not going to fret. The flowers will be gorgeous either way. They are way down on my list of most important things.
NY Amber -
Check with some florists and give them your ideas... I have wayyyy more stuff going on than that for flowers and my total flower package is $750!
oops.. sorry this took so long to write back-
I am using Sam Rao Florist on Milton Rd in Syracuse, NY... not to be confused with Rao florist in Mattydale.
I know they do deliver, but i dont know if they go as far as little falls
No worries... I'm happy with the type and quanity of flowers that we are getting for the $$. I'm beyond changing anyway. I'm at the 10 day mark now. Congrats on the great deal!

I'm so out of the loop when it comes to purchasing flowers. It's just not something that I've done much in my life. I've picked a number but haven't purchased. So I've been to a few florist to get an idea of how much this is going to cost me. I'm more confused now. Anyone have any idea how much it should cost for the following?
1 - bridal bouqet
3 - bridesmaids bouqets
1 - groom bout
3 - groomsmen bouts
3 - extra bouts - father, grandfather & officiate
4 - corsages (2 mothers, 1 grandmother & 1 extra)
I'm just looking for personal flowers - I'd love garden roses, but have been told you can't purchase them commercially. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
