I am trying to keep my floral budget down and one florist suggest nixing flowers for cocktail hour and just using candles. This seemed a little plain to me, but then I realized I really don’t remember whether there have been flowers in most of the cocktail hours I’ve been to. Are you planning flowers specifically for cocktail hour?

I’m having someone take my ceremony flowers (after the ceremony, of course) to the reception to be reused for the cocktail hour area.

We’re having a very small centerpiece on our cocktail tables. I felt the same way you do, but the florist we chose is doing them at a reasonable price. When we were meeting florists, one told us that we shouldn’t have cocktail centerpieces and should use candles to keep our costs down, but her estimate for our wedding came out to be 2x the amount of the florist we booked. If you’re not happy with the florist’s suggestions, keep shopping
