    Hi ladies,

I am going to attempt to make centerpieces for Thanksgiving.  Attached is my inspritation for the centerpieces. I wanted to know where I could buy flowers online that doesn't sell them in cases? My local florists are trying to charge me an arm and a leg for flowers. Any suggestions? TIA

Those are really pretty.  The best thing I can think of is to hit a local grocery store and buy flowers.  They're usually pretty cheap - comparatively, and this time of year they'll probably have lots of those colors, unless of course you're looking for very specific flowers.

I agree with the local grocery store.  Or if you're near an area that has a flower market, that would work too.

I'm not sure where you live, but surprisingly enough when I was price shopping flowers, our local Sams Club beat out grocery store and flower shop prices! Costco has flowers too. You don't have to buy them in bulk to get a good deal! Good luck!

Yup- shop local.  Wholefoods, Costco, supermarkets, etc.

Yea I guess I could check out the grocery store. I never thought of that. I'd have to look into a flower market. I don't know if we have one around where I live. Thanks for the advance ladies!

See if you can hit up a farmers market.  Ditto on Sams or Costco!

I would definitely go the grocery/Sams club route. Heck, even Super Targets and Super WalMarts have flowers!

Sadly no super Target's are in my area. ::sigh:: I might have to bite the bullet and get either Sams's Club or Costco membership for this. I will post pictures of my version of it when i'm when I do it. Cross your fingers it's not a disaster!

Basic memberships at Costco and Sams are cheap now-a-days. And it's a small price to pay for all the cash you'll be saving! Plus if you need other stuff later on, for your wedding or every day home stuff, the membership will easily pay for itself!

Hi Emily! I see you're in Pittsburgh... I dont know where you are exactly but the flower vendors in the Strip District (Near PennMacaroni Company) are usually pretty good if you get there in the morning. If not there, the Market District Giant Eagles (S. Hills, Shadyside and Robinson) or the Whole Foods on Centre Ave have lots of flowers! Hope this helps! :)

blooms by the box sells at good prices but you don't need to order massive quantities.  You do have to order usually a minimum but it's lower minimum than other sites.

I didn't see an orange rose in there but when I called them for my wedding they said they are not limited to what they have on their site and as long as they have a couple weeks notice they can get other varieties in.

So if there price looks good but you don't see the flowers try and call them and see what they say.

@proudpeacockbride: I think I will get a membership that way I can stock up on anything. I looked it up online and it's only $50.00 not bad.

@JeniRae: Thanks for the local tips! I live about 15 mins outside of Pittsburgh so I will have to make a trip down to the Strip District on a Saturday to check out the goods. Or I could go to Whole Foods , which is a good excuse to go to the spa next door Eva Szabo....Laughing

@bvig: I will call and see their prices too. I'm glad you told me that not all the flowers are shown online. I would have never thought to call them since they didn't advertise it. Thanks!
