I am sooooo excited!
I have been shopping around with florists and have been shocked at the cost of my calla lily arrangements!!! I want simple, small and elegant medium sized calla lilies and all the florists are telling me that what I want will be to small and my budget is too small for calla’s!
I was very disappointed, because of my small budget I have had to compromise on a lot of my wedding dreams and wants and I was really upset that I will have to compromise on this as well!!!!
Until today when I got back my quote from my local grocery store and almost EVERYTHING was 50% cheaper than the other quotes and she understands my vision and does not think that it will be too small but will do a mock up with me to ensure I am confident. So all and all so far my experience with them has been great! And another plus I get to use the store points against the purchase so by the time of the wedding I will only have to pay half of the cost because I have been saving points (for this purpose) for the last 2 years!!!!!
For the Canadian bees out there – I am doing this with LOBLAWS and I am using PC points to pay for half!!!!!

Thanks for the tip! I’m doing my own centerpieces and will definitely be checking out the local grocery stores.

Thanks! I was thinking about going to Loblaws tomorrow to get a flower quote and now I definitely will!

Don’t forget about greenhouses if you are DIYing them! I am in Niagara and already buy my flowers for the house at greenhouses, and have spoken to a few about wedding flowers…although mine will be gerberas, they are 1/4 of the price a florist will charge!

Just make sure your points don’t expire! If you get in a crunch with your flowers, you can perhaps have the callas in your bouquet and either a couple of elegant blooms for your BM to carry, or maybe a coordinating flower for their bouquets?

That’s a great way to “think outside of the box” to get what you want. Or a really good story about the perseverance of brides…
I was shocked as well all the way down in Texas that our local grocery chain, HEB, came in MUCH lower than any florist that I talked with. In the end, we’ve decided to DIY it all and are using artificial flowers from afloral.com. I’m more than pleased with how they look and HEB is providing fresh-cut stems to us on the day of to supplement the fake flowers.
Great job on finding a good deal and sharing that with the hive!
