I have a white all lace and beaded dress and am wondering what flowers go best with something more serious and traditional like that.  I love gerbera daisies, but wasn't sure how they would go with my dress.  I didn't know if they would look too informal for the dress or if they just help to make the dress and everything more fun.  Thoughts?

roses are always classic - white or pink?

i really wanted to do gerberas too but ended up with red roses because the gerberas were just too modern? looking...

Calla Lillies would be beautiful too.

I've never thought of a lace dress as "serious". If you like gerbera daisies then get them! I had Peonies/Ranunculas/Garden roses.

I have a lace dress and my bouquet will be gerbera daisies and roses. I think it's gonna look great! :)

I personally am not a fan of gerbera daisies. I think calla lilies are more sophisticated and would look better with your dress.

@LGenz: Wow, I have a lace dress and those are the flowers I'm going to use too. I hope my peonies can come out on July 3rd!

I like hydrangias, as they kind of look like a lacy flower to me, and compliment the lace in the dress!

I'm glad you all think gerberas will look good.  I was thinking about pairing them with hydrangeas or gardenias.  I'm not getting married for almost another year, but am trying to get a rough decision because I want to deliver small bouquets to my bridesmaids to ask them to be part of my wedding.  Thanks everyone.  If anyone else has other ideas, I'm all ears :)

How about rose and orchids?  I'm going classic too, I'm sticking with this, but have not figured out the colours yet.

I think a good idea with a bouquet is to either really match the dress, or really contrast it. For a lace dress, I would either go really clean and sleek (callas, tea roses or ochids) or something really delicate like lace (a bouquet of really small flowers clustered together).

I think your gut feeling that gerberas are a bit too bold and friendly for your dress is right, but it depends on the cut, and your personality.
