My anatomy scan was yesterday and after checking out the baby, the doctor came in with the tech to check my cervix with a transvaginal ultrasound. She noticed that while the cervix was closed and long, there was fluid in between either end – like it was sandwiched in the middle. She made sure that the fluid didn’t move when she pressed on my stomach and with the wand. I told her that I’ve had a ton of discharge since becoming pregnant but she didn’t seem too concerned with that. The doctor said that she wasn’t too worried about the fluid but because she was an “extra cautious doctor” she wanted to check again in two weeks.
Now that I’ve had time to sit at home and panic over what this could mean (incompetent cervix? early labor?) I’m starting to get nervous. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Is there anything I should ask my OB when I go in for my 20 week appointment on Tuesday? Any advice?
