A friend of my FI offered to play the flute for the ceremony. We haven’t met yet to discuss what we want her to play and I know she will be helpful then, but I don’t even have a clue where to start. I would like to go to the meeting somewhat prepared. My google searches of flute solos have gotten me nowhere! Does anyone have a recommendation of where I can go to educate myself on what a flute soloist can play at a wedding? I’m not interested in the Canon in D, bridal march, etc but I do want something with a similar energy to those songs.

I would think it would be pretty dependent on what "genres" she can already play. We just booked our ceremony guitarist and he usually plays classical music, but we suggested some songs we’d like played and he obliged. It’s really whatever you want it to be. If you want, I can give you some of the samples from my musician’s playlist to give you an idea.

You might just try thinking of some of your favorite songs for the lyrics or melodies or both and see if she can play any of those. It will mean more to yall I think than just some random song that most people can play on a flute. If you still have plenty of time, I think she would be willing to try to learn something completely different.
