alaska_99705 :  Did you have any bloodwork done to analyze LH or estrogen levels? I would say it is probably unlikely to catch up, but if your body is slow to have the LH rise, then it is possible to get to 16 prior to natural ovulation. If that is the case, and your lead follicle continues to grow, then there is also the chance it will be over-ripe and aneupliod by that time. Also, once you begin to surge it can happen quickly with your follicle already being large.

FWIW, my RE considers anything over 18mm in a femara/clomid cycle mature (and likely to ovulate on it’s own) and anything over 14mm in IVF potentially to contain a mature egg (but will not ovulate without trigger).

alaska_99705 :  I wouldn’t do anything, they don’t become over-ripe until closer to 25mm. Growth can slow down to closer to that 1mm/day after a certain size. I wouldn’t really expect it to take much longer since you’re already at 20mm. Best of luck!

ETA: Most of the time the lead follicle will be the only one to continue to grow, especially in a cycle that you are relying on your natural hormonal surge after femara. If you were doing stims, I would expect the 12mm to keep growing. I wouldn’t worry!

alaska_99705 :  I usually don’t ovulate til about 3-4 days after it gets to 1.9-2.0 cm… so you wouldn’t get a surge just yet necessarily 🙂 i don’t think the 1.2 cm one will catch up. 2.0 guy is pretty much the dominant at this point because it can go any day now. But I’m obviously strictly speaking only based on my OWN ovulation. Usually I O 3-4 days arteries gets to 1.9-2.0.. But you’re right, they can ovulate after 1.5cm. 1.5-2.5 is typical. Sometimes I get to 2.7 before I ovulate:)

Try tomorrow. I bet you get a surge tomorrow or Wednesday for sure!

alaska_99705 :  are you taking clomid? I unfortunately don’t know a whole lot about it or that process 🙁 have you not ovulated on your own in previous months? I would think you could get a positive opk today OR tomorrow, just because like I said, sometimes mine gets to 2.5-2.7 cm before I O.. and if you are only growing 1mm a day.. you might be a few days out yet. Not enough panic but of you’re on clomid and don’t O on your own, and usually get the trigger shot then idk much about it 🙁 I wish I could be more help!

alaska_99705 :  I’ve never NOT triggered, so I’m unfortunately not much help. I would give it another day or so probably before calling the RE if you haven’t ovulated. It’s likely they would just tell you to come back for another scan and potentially trigger – but in that case you should also request blood work because you may already be surging on your own and trigger would be ineffective.
