I am finding those two don't mesh well together. Ha! Food is just so expensive!

I was wondering if any of you are doing a pasta bar? It is actually really reasonably priced but I still feel like it is a filling meal. I was thinking of having salad and breads with a pasta bar. Has anyone had an experience with this?

    Thanks

Never had one but it sounds like a great idea. Almost everybody likes pasta.

If it fits the budget I say go for it.

I think it's a great idea. We're entertaining the idea of Italian with mostly pastas, breads, and salads.

That's what we're doing for our rehearsal dinner.  Pizza, pasta, salad, etc.  Not as cheap as Cici's but most people will enjoy it, we'll have good left overs, and still be able to afford to feed them dinner at the reception.  I think its a great option - much, much better than picking the cheapest option of a standard buffet.

I think pasta is a great idea! It can be done as fancy or as simple as you want and it's great if you have vegetarian guests. Also, you can do a few differant varieties and it still wouldn't be too expensive. Penne with vodka sauce, spinach ravioli with marinara, fettucini alfredo, spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, linguine carbonara......so many options!

This is a great idea! Can't wait to hear how it turns out! We are in a budget bind for our reception as well. I have thought about a potluck style since it is such a small group but like the pasta bar idea much more!

that's a cute idea! we tried cutting costs with a longer cocktail hour and more appetizers and a very light dinner. :)
