Hi ladies. We’re planning a little anniversary dinner/at home reception for the end of April. We’re doing a food tasting of our menu – appetizers, entrees, hors’ doeuerves etc. – on Friday and we just realized we’re not sure if we’re paying extra for it.
I was thinking we’re probably paying, since it’s technically a dinner that we’re going to have at the place. DH is voting no because it might be included in our catering package – we opted for a cocktail hour and then a sit down dinner.
I’m going to call the venue to find out but I’m curious what others experienced.

We paid $100 for four people to taste our food, but the cost goes into our final catering bill.

Nope, definitely didn’t at any of the tastings I’ve gone to. The caterer is trying to sell you on paying a lot of money for their meals, and this is their way of selling themselves!

Our tastings were included in our overall package.

It should be included, in my opinion. You’re not supposed to guess what you like or not, and they are responsible for providing food that you like. I guess there are different expectations though. I would absolutely think it should be included.

My food tasting is this Sat. and we are not being charged, we are trying three different choices too!

If they didn’t mention a fee I would be assuming it is included in your package, but I would call ahead to confirm.

Our food tasting was for four people and cost $50 total. We had to pay upfront, but later when we signed our contract the $50 was subtracted from the total cost of our catering.

A tasting for up to 4 people was included in our package. If we chose to bring more than 4 I think it was like $25 each. Only DH and I went so we didn’t have to pay anything extra.

We had a free tasting of the passed apps that are available, and we will have a free tasting for the 2 of us to try our dinner choices. If we want to bring guests to the tasting we need to pay extra. The caterer explained that some couples were bringing their whole family to the tasting-and it was cery costly.

My caterer was great- we were waited on hand and foot and they displayed everything very carefully. There was no cost for this and they treated it like an interview, we had no obligation to choose them as our caterer. My parents, my fiance and I attended this dinner.
