I have a really good recipe for a vanilla pound cake, and a chocolate cake. Both of which my mom uses, and she has a wedding cake business! PM me, I’ll send them to you when I get home 🙂

No pictures from me, but my main piece of advice is to invest in a good leveller. If the cake is levelled out properly, the icing sits so much better (more an issue with fondant that buttercream, but still important) and the finished product looks so profesh.

Oh, and this is probably really really obvious, but if you’re making coloured buttercream, make sure your batch is large enough to do what you need, because there’s no way no how you’re gonna get that stuff the same colour on a second attempt!!
