I went to the mall to drop off homemade treats to my former retail coworkers, and the Starbucks baristas whom always treated me well, and there were people whom had made Black Friday 2013 t-shirts.

I don’t discredit the first site. I hate society.. but the second article is totally misleading. I liked this comment,

“Well of course retailers have highest margins in the 4th quarter. Their sales increase because its the busiest time of the year, and while some of their costs increase as well there are of course fixed costs that do no grow in the 4th quarter.

In other words, if margin % = (Rev – Exp)/Rev, of course margin % goes up in the 4th quarter because some portion of the expenses does not grow just because the retailer sells more stuff.”

  I’m by no means a retail maven, in fact I loathe shopping on any day. But there is no other day I can think of when I can outfit my entire family of 6 at 50%(or more) off every item I pick up from socks to ski jackets.  I do not rise at 3 am or stand in lines or pitch tents in parking lots to then trample retail workers, so I also will not parttake in any guilt fest for the items I DID SCORE on Black Friday. I’m so OVER all the Black Friday drama already!!!

I’m sorry but this is just as dangerous as other activities people take part in. Should people stop driving because bad drivers cause accidents? Smoking kills thousands of people every year why don’t we post a death count for that?

The second site is ridiculous. If you know what you are looking for then you can get a killer deal. I agree with the other bee that it is totally misleading.

As for the first site, thats total between 2006-2013 and three of those are from car accidents… not black friday itself. Car accidents happen everyday.. so lets count the amount of car accidents that happen on new years and ban new years celebrartions. As for the other 4, there will always be ridiculous over-the-top insane people who show their crazy side in crazy situations. This happens every other day of the year.

So lets hate people and not Black Friday.

@Sweetjennygirl:  +1

I went into Black Friday knowing what I wanted, nad having researched original prices and brand reviews etc. I did 90% of my shopping online, and the stuff I didn’t do, I did in the pre Black Friday sales.

Yes, people can be horrible, at the same time we were able to buy quality things we needed that we couldn’t afford otherwise.
