Shep is 3. Shep has a f*&kton of fur.
And in the 3 years we’ve had him, we went through 3 vacuum cleaners. A Bissel, a Dirt Devil, and a Bissel Pet.
Meet the Dyson Animal:
Sorry, shouldn’t have photographed it on the speckled countertop – but – that is ALLLLLL fur. And unlike other vacuums, the way the Dyson is designed, it all ends up in the cannister in a big clump that comes out and doesn’t clog up the hoses or filters. This is also only 4 days after the last vacuuming. I swear, it even sucks the fur out of the air!
So, I normally don’t hype up products – but if you have pets, put this bad boy on your registry. Its worth every dime.

LOL the way you framed this review was funny! My mom had a dyson and it’s a freaking monster when it comes to getting fur. I trust them!

i second this and would like to add that dyson’s customer service is awesome.

Our pet doesnt shed but I love all dyson products. Were asking for a vacuum and the fan on our registry.

If you are upgrading from a lower end vac, you’ll be blown away by the Dyson. If you are switching from another $500 vac, you won’t notice too much of a difference.
I’ve had my Dyson Animal for about 3 years and while it’s a great vac, I wish I had a Miele or high end Electrolux. The Dyson is heavy and the wand isn’t flexible enough. The whole thing tips over if I try to really stretch the wand…or it rolls after Me and hits me while I’m doing baseboards!
I’m a fan, but I don’t really love my Dyson.

We got one, and the thing is AMAZING. Definitely worth the investment.

hahaha! I imagine you and I have similar orangey-buff fuzz tumbleweeds on our floors 🙂
If you don’t end up getting it, we got ours at Costco. It was on our registry – but we saw it for 125 bucks off at Costco and decided to just buy it. We debated keeping it on our registry so that we’ll have 2 when we have a house with an upstairs and downstairs – but I felt silly doing that.

Totally agree. We have the animal and it’s changed our lives. Darling Husband atually WANTS to vacuum and our carpets have never been cleaner. If you ask me, it’s a must have for pet owners.

@mandypop: we call our furr balls tumbleweeds too! LOL except we have a Golden Retreiver so we have more hair than you can imagine!

We registered for one!! We have a Bissel right now and I HATE IT. Granted it’s an old vac, but it barely picks up any cat hair and I have to vacuum the same spot over and over and over again. ARGH!

We have one and I’m always amazed by the amount of fur it collects. When we first got it, we had to empty the canister numerous times cause it collected so much fur our old vaccum had missed.

We also have a Dyson Animal and LOVE it! Our Golden Retriever sheds like crazy, and I see tumbleweeds of fur forming everywhere! I can literally fill that canister with one vacuuming of our first floor every week. I do agree with @mink: that the removable wand/hose/nozzle is not very useful or flexible, but as an upright vacuum, the Dyson Animal is fantastic. (I also wish I had one on each level, because I do not like having to carry it up and down the stairs. I know I would vacuum even more frequently if I didn’t have to make myself go to the other floor to get the Dyson, haha.)
