Hey everyone. So I moved around a lot during my life and some cities/towns I have visited and other places I haven’t visited since I left the area. Some of my friends (especially my va friends) I haven’t seen in years and although I want to go back out and visit, its impossible because I don’t have a place to stay. I’m wondering what are other ways to see my va friends besides going to va? I know some people do marathons together and they travel to that location to meet up where they both get a hotel but what are other ways to see my friends who I can’t see much?

Can they come visit you instead? Or meet in a city that you both want to visit?

Why can’t you stay with any of your friends?
ETA: Hotels are also a thing.

When I visit my long distance friends, I stay at their houses…

We visit long distance friends a couple of times a year and simply stay at their house (and they stay at ours when they visit). Is this not an option?
What about a hotel? Or meeting in the ‘middle’ somewhere and splitting hotel costs?

Stay with them, arrange a “friends vacation weekend”, or just use Skype or become email pen pals.

MrsBeck: staying at a friends house I believe wouldn’t be a option only because none of my long distance friends except for a very select few have let me stayed with them due to them offering me. Staying at their houses sound nice but I don’t want to stay their if they don’t offer it to me. I think me asking people to stay at their house wouldn’t be proper etiquette and it’s rude to ask.

Ap2010: what about a hotel or asking to come visit and stay with you?

We have skype dates were we drink wine, talk on skype and surf the internet together.. wine makes skyping more fun
Otherwise I visit them, they visit me and we usually stay at each other’s houses. A friend’s vacation weekend is also a good idea!
We also have whatsapp texting threads with a few of us on each thread so we can chat throughout the day.. its like they live in my pocket haha

Ap2010: Do these friends want you to visit them? Not trying to sound rude, but if they’re your friends surely they’d want to host you.
A friend and I recently visited a city where we used to live. It was a last minute trip and we didn’t want to impose on anyone, so got a hotel. When we met up with our friends, they were all like WTH why didn’t you stay with us??
