This is just a fun post to share unique things you did at your wedding, or things that your bridal party did for you which was appreciated. It’s a way for married bees to inspire the new bees 🙂
The first unique thing my awesome bridesmaids did was my bridal shower in a box. I live half way across the world from the girls who were my bridal party, and logistically it wasn’t possible to do pre-wedding events. Considering how much they were doing just to be present at my wedding, I totally didn’t expect anything. I was so surprised to get a very thoughtful package in the mail, which my bridesmaids and mother coordinated. It had gifts for the day of the wedding (mints, bandaids, mini deoderant, tissues, a robe, advil, etc…all of which I never would have thought of myself and came in super handy!) along with a naughty and nice package for the honeymoon and newlywed life (for example I got two aprons, one for the kitchen, and another one with less cloth for the bedroom….). I was blown away that they went to the extra effort to do something like that for me!
The other thing that was pretty cool was something my SIL set up. She bought 52+ postcards, where each was designated a week of the year. She wrote our address on each one, and hung them all up at the reception. During the speeches she explained that each guest was to pick up one of the post cards, and write a message and mail it to us on the date specificed. That way, we could enjoy our first married year together with good wishes from our closest friends and family. I thought it was a super touching thing for her organize! I totally didn’t expect people to even remember to send them, but four months after the wedding I got about 9 cards back from our guests! I loved this idea, and really want to see someone else do it as I’m pretty sure I will not be a BM in the near future!
So, what were some of your neat wedding ideas?

one thing I did that I hadn’t seen before was have my vows as my something blue, although I have posted this a few times now on here.
We gave our dads Chivas Regal scotch instead of chocolate bonbonierres
They kind of matched
We did a jive as our wedding dance, we had a cake display table (5 cakes) instead of a tiered cake, all white/cream coloured, we had a 2.5 week holiday BEFORE we got married (I highly recommend doing this). Ummmm we organised a door list and (really small) bar tab at a nightclub for those who wanted to go ‘out’ after our reception finished at midnight.
thats all I can think of right now…
You seem to have chosen really excellent BMs OP 🙂

- Wedding: August 2013 - Brookfield Zoo
@Au Jardin: I LOVE the postcard idea!
Sorry I don’t have anything unique T_T All my stuff is stolen off of pinterest, haha! Maybe if I finally come up with a ceremony alternative (instead of sand or tying a knot) I’ll post back 😉

Not too unique, but we did a ring warming with all three rings (engagement and two wedding bands) and passed in a box my husband made. After we exchanged bands, I had the officiant do a little speech and hubs put my engagement ring back on as a symbol of fulfilling the promise to wed.
We did unique table numbers that were special/unique numbers to us:
Radiohead groom’s cake.
Centerpieces that doubled as take-away favors.
River rock guest book:
No bridal party grand entrances or speeches, no over the top fanfare, just a really fun, cocktail type event that was really lovely.
And the best sparkler exit I’ve seen yet 🙂

We had everyone sign the marriage license during the ceremony, but we only had 11 guests lol. Made everyone really feel apart of the ceremony
